Origin of the Summons

Every summon in the original game makes the party fade out. Even Choco/Mog and yes even the "Fat Chocobo" version of that summon.

They all make the party fade out, but they don't all seem to take the enemy away to a different dimensional space. Ramuh and Titan, for instance, seem to appear within the same world.

Oddly enough, it seems like all of them (with the exception of KotR) take place in the real world. Though if you consider all the smoking craters you would have left behind, I guess it's more likely that the different dimension just happens to look exactly the same as the real one.

Also, what's the summon at 6:00? Is it a Hades alternate? I don't recall ever seeing it in any of my playthroughs.

That summon is Typhon. Get it in the Ancient Forest which becomes accessible after you defeat Ultima Weapon. Or you can take a mountain chocobo to get there.

The Materia is called "Typoon" in the PSX version but was corrected to "Typhon" for the PC.

Ooo, kay. I've definitely gotten the materia before, I guess I just never actually used it.
