Overly Long Usernames

I won't pretend I understand the reason for them and don't oppose them, except they they're so long they distort the forum display. Could we set some limit please?

Yeah maybe we should. I mean, how am I supposed to read a topic in peace when somebody posts an enormous forum-distorting image and doesn't hide it behind a spoiler tag.

Surely there should be a limit on this sort of thing, right?

I'm not sure what you mean by distort, I mean everything seems pretty evenly spaced on the index page, and I haven't seen any misalignment. That might be to do with my monitor though.

The root cause of this problem isn't overly long usernames, it's a lack of proper site design and CSS to either cut off or in some other way than expanding its containing box deal with overly long usernames, .

I think my laptop is widescreen or something, would this mean I don't get the same kind of issues? Like theres a 2inch border all around this site for me, and as far as I know I have the default skin setting.

It looks normal to me but that's probably because a long name stretching the layout has become the norm so I don't remember it being different.

I remember when Mog was ''Dude in the background......." and it would actually make his posts go skewed, but then that got sorted and it seems whatever fixed that has worked for others, but yeah I don't really know what the layout was like prior to that.

If it's an important issue, I don't think it should be dismissed. However I do think it's worth looking into whether it's an isolated issue or something that may depend on individual settings.

On my particular monitor, it pushes the left border of the column to the left. If someone else would post in the RP forum I could screencap and show the difference.

Let people have their obnoxious user names, it's such a minor thing that it really doesn't bother me. The only time it'd stretch the Forum is if they were the last one posting which won't happen all the time. I remember bitching about Satsu stretching the chat box but it was in light hearted nature.

It doesn't bug me but eh, wat do?

Honestly Drake, I find it annoying too because the tables do the same thing for me and no it's not keeping me up at night, and it's not killing anyone and children aren't suiciding over it, but whether people care or not, I DO find it a tad bothersome.

I brought this up before and got a similar response so I stopped caring. IN fact, tbh, I don't post any suggestions anymore because the majority of them (including one to have different colored skins at one point before Aaron implemented them) are greeted with smart ass responses that get 50 thanks and people going "I don't get why it's a big deal"

This honestly should be fixable by removing nowrap elements from the columns and specifying a fixed width for them, but that would probably bring its own problems. I'll remove them if enough people think it should be done.
