Please help FFVII in the Best Game Ever Contest on GameFaqs

Hey guys,

There is a best game ever contest going on at GameFaqs and today FFVII is up against Super Smash Bros. Melee. It is currently losing and it needs our help. Please vote for our beloved FFVII. There are a little over 4 hours left to vote.

^ FFVII is over 12k votes behind Super Smash Bros. Melee as it is, I don't think it's going to happen.

There's no way that Melee is one of the best four games of all time (and if I gave a shit, I'd be more miffed about it beating Chrono Trigger in the last 16), but then again, brackets can turn up funny results sometimes. :monster: I think it's fair to say that Smash players are somewhat overrepresented on GameFAQs.

Undertale is also doing surprisingly well for a game which has been only out for three months. That's nowhere near enough time to judge it, in my opinion. The best games are the ones that people still want to pick up and play years or even decades after their release.

Just watch as Undertale wins best game ever despite being new, which would be a total cop-out. I have a feeling I'll be profoundly disappointed by the outcome. I can't be the only one that feels like a game has to be around for at least a certain number of years before it belongs in a best game ever vote.

You are not the only one. It makes no sense to put a game alongside the likes of FFVII, Metal Gear Solid, and Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time in a best game ever contest. GameFaqs messed this up big time.

And I couldn't post a link because this was my first post ever and I have to have at least five posts in order to include a link (per the forum rules).

It's easy to forget about the restriction you have to deal with shortly after joining. This whole thing reminds me of how I used to watch some of screwattack's death battles until I saw some where I knew both characters well enough to be disappointed in the reasoning for the win, particularly Cloud vs Link, even though I quite like Link and would've accepted his win if I was satisfied with the reasoning.

Contests like this are just a popularity vote and not about what game is legitimately the best game. People take it as "What game do I like more" rather then what the contest actually calls for.

It's why FF7 used to win these so much :desu:

whaaaa =/ Melee is one of the greatest fighting games of all time. It's still being played competitively to this very day and is still considered to be the peak of the Smash series. It even pulls in more competitors per tournament than Brawl, Smash 4 and Project Melee does that's pretty good for a 14 year old game.

It's an apples to oranges comparison sure, but its extremely lame to just dismiss such an amazingly well made game like that imo.
All things considered I can see the reasoning as to why Melee would catch more votes than FF7.

The best game ever? For me it's probably a tie between Super Metroid and Chrono Trigger. I would never vote for FFVII as the best game of all time.

Probably, yeah, we just did it the hard way, :monster:. Anyone can set up a blog or site on for example wordpress.com if need be, link a free forum to it, tadaah.
