Again, I have to tell you that your Repo references mean nothing to me ("the glasses! They do nothing! Nothing!!!"), but, if I'm remembering the reviews I've read correctly, does that mean Angeal would be playing Anthony Head's part (Giles in Buffy, Headmaster Finch in David Tennant's first season of Who)? If so, I heartily endorse this mad idea, cos Tony Head is awesome. :awesome:

Makkusu - I think he was handled well in CC, tbh. He was central to the story, but he wasn't overplayed like Genesis was

. Angeal's shown to have the soul of a true hero, and be awesome. Nuff said. :)

Viva - you draw Angeal awesome as is. :) It might not be how you want him to look, but he still looks cool to me. ^_^ And the omake versions of both characters are good, too.

That's just unfair......He's one of the best NEW characters and even rivals with some of the old ones.

not killing him wouldn't hurt Square, but I guess Zack had to get the Buster Sword somehow.....

Yeah, it is pretty unfair, but SE don't really seem balanced in their coverage of characters. I mean, you can't move without falling over Cloud, it seems, even if you escape to another dimension (FFTactics on PS1, KH, Dissidia, Ehrgeiz...), while Nanaki gets one line of spoken dialogue with a voice actor.

At least with Angeal, SE are less likely to screw him over than with other characters. :monster: Do we really want an Angeal version of Dirge of Cerberus?

OK, my Angeal story idea: hopefully, I'll make a start on it later, but it could be a couple of weeks before I get it finished and typed up (yeah, my stories are first written by hand in most cases, then typed up and edited).

Base premise: shortly before AC, Cloud stands before the Buster Sword, reflecting.

I promised... I'd live for both of us...

"Heh. Guess some things are easier said than done, huh?"

Then he hears: "That is because you're not even living for yourself. How can you live a life on behalf of the dead, when you won't even accept your own?"

Cloud turns to see Angeal. Vaguely recognises him, but doesn't remember him.

The middle is fuzzy. But, there'll be some swordplay. Angeal talks about dreams, honour, and the like...

OK can't say too much, otherwise it won't get writ. :P

Sounds intriguing, but I guess we've never seen Angeal's extent of abilities..... Only thing we know, is that Zack can beat his Angeal Penance form, which makes him pretty..... Uncomparable to Cloud :(

Well, AC shows Cloud as being out of shape, while this is a manifestation of Angeal at his prime. Plus, I have a feeling (personally) that Angeal held back during his fight with Zack, because he wanted to be stopped. Also, we have no idea how Angeal would fare against Angeal Penance. (Penance has no sword skills!)

Actually, while we're on the subject, doesn't Penance look (in form) similar to Ultima WEAPON (as well as Ultima and Omega in VIII)?

OFF-TOPIC: Yeah, just bought Disgaea DS on Saturday. ^_^ I'd started the PSP version, but I got to the second fight with Mid-Boss and got whupped as I didn't have a mage/skull of any description... and then I learnt about Etna's diary, which I'd missed... anyway, I'm now off to fight Hoggmeister. >:-D

OOH I WANT IN! I love Angeal so much, he was my favouritest character in Crisis Core. :D It really bugs me how little fanwork there is around for him, too. Everyone's too busy bumming Genesis, lol.

I got the impression Angeal wanted to die, and he wanted Zack to do it, ie, set him free.
Every time I play CC I love Angeal more. My favourite bit is when he, Hollander and Zack are in the loft of the bathhouse at Modeoheim, and Hollander says something crass, and Angeal looks so disgusted, as if Hollander is a worm....
Can I join this club?

It's been a while since I revisited this club, but I'm here to promote a really interesting fanfic starring Angeal which is posted at Archive of Our Own. It's called "A Hope in Hell". So far every other character is an OC - and it's working brilliantly. While Genesis and Sephiroth are off on other missions, Angeal has been put in command of an occupied province in Wutai, and has to solve the mystery behind a very fascinating - almost too fascinating - prisoner. The author's take on the culture of Wutai is vividly explored and the culture clash is a key element of the story; one aspect of that culture clash is the contrast in the ways Shinra and the Wutaians use materia. I think it's really, really well written, several cuts above the usual fanfic. Sadly, it's not finished yet, but if you enjoy it, leave a comment and encourage her to keep on with the story.

But seriously though. Angeal is awesome. I wish he was more popular.

I even brought a fanfic! It's from the same author licoriceallsorts posted last year. It's basically just letters Angeal sends to his mother. It does imply some Angeal/Genesis (which I'm not a fan of), but otherwise it's pretty good.

This club desperately needs a revival... I remember this place on ACF.net back in 2008 (it was called 'A New Angel' back then; I still have the banners I made for it!) and we were nerding out constantly over Angeal, back when Crisis Core was still fresh out of the case and permanently stuck in everyone's PSPs. I lived on these forums back then!

But anyways, so as not to completely spam the club, I come bearing an Angeal-centric gift I found on Deviant Art awhile back. I don't know how many people have seen it, but I hope you enjoy it nonetheless! (I hope the link works...)

Ahh, where has the time gone... I miss chatting with all my old friends in here about the greatness that is Angeal. This club desperately needs a revival. I hope we get mentions of Angeal in the remake, either by Turks, Shin-Ra staff, other NPCs, or even Cloud himself! Since he believes Zack's memories are his own after all...

I'm reviving this club. I need a place to gush about Angeal... staying indoors every day probably got the best of me. Have any of you seen his appearances in Square Enix's mobile games?

It's sad that I couldn't get into Pictlogica. The art is exactly like World of Final Fantasy and everyone looks so darn cute! Angeal's serious face contrasts the chibi art which somehow makes him look even cuter. It's almost gap moe.

He might even show up in Opera Omnia. Someone had datamined the app quite some time ago and found this lovely portrait:
