^Played that a while ago. It's like trying to play a song in Guitar Hero on hyperspeed's highest level. Tis good fun!

"Cartridge" is a bit of a misleading term, I expect. If they're smart they'll go with SD cards, which are about as cheap as blu-rays per gigabyte nowadays while obviously offering much better read and write times (console blu-rays don't allow writing at all). If they want cross-platform games on the NX the cards will need to be at least 50 GB, so 64 GB would be an obvious choice. As well as saving money in production costs, going with SD cards would also allow players to buy their own and easily install games downloaded from the Nintendo store, like on the 3DS. But they could also use a proprietary format - maybe something backwards-compatible with DS/3DS cards, which wouldn't be terrible.

Also makes sense because who wants a noisy disc drive in a portable device :monster:

If the rumors are to believed that the NX is essentially both portable and home console in one, that is.

Joking aside that might be kind of cool for a console. I love having the A/V cord for my old 3000-series PSP and being able to plug it up to a TV. Playing classic PSOne games on that screen bring back the memories.

Vis a vis hard storage / "cartridge" rumor - Yeah the advances in that area are self-evident. Is weird to think CDs were considered the height of storage technology and now they are largely obsolete.

Didn't Sega discontinue the Saturn (at least in North America) before launching the Dreamcast? That certainly doesn't bode well for Nintendo's future.

Nintendo is fine. They utterly dominate the handheld market, and have probably the most consistently successful first party game lineup.
