This really makes me feel like a kid again, when I actually thought these beings existed and were wonderous, magical creatures to look up to.
Plus it looks fucking gorgeous. That scene with the sandman creations walking through the houses? Wow.

I just hope it keeps the tone of the trailer, and doesnt spiral off into typical cgi kids movie wacky action.

Also, I saw a video-review of the film from a guy who saw it on early screening. He had only positive things to say, but even if this doesn't say much, it makes me excited.

At first, I was sort of--uhmmm whyyy are all the 3D animated features coming out all about the bad accents and blahblahblah but then, OH MAAAAAAAAN YESSSSS I'm way more into the use of this sort of 3D special effects rendering for magic than I am for eight hundred feet of golden hair.

Friend took me to the theatre last night and we actually sat in the wrong theatre by mistake. But it was totally damn worth it; and seeing it in 3D is pretty enjoyable, too.

Spoiler: I'll content myself with saying only this for now about the music

The bit with the sandman dinosaurs you see in the trailer? When those show up, the introductory shot and riff of music is highly, HIGHLY evocative of the Jurassic Park theme song, where you first see the Brontosaurus and feel that sensation of wonder.

This movie just revisits wonder. I loved the jokes, the tongue-in-cheek humour, the really derpy lines... it was all fantastic. It didn't take much letting go for me to enjoy the crap out of myself and feel at once like a kid and an adult regifted with the potential of magic in the world. And the movie is fast-paced--no lag. Fight choreo is a pleasure to watch. Animation is beautiful.

GO SEE IT.

Santa doesn't use his swords even nearly enough in this movie. That's my only real criticism, though; Rise of the Guardians is really rather good as far as overly-cheerful family films go.

haha oh man I totally tripped out when I heard Jack Frost's voice. It was so deep and he looks so pubescent looking. Also in some scenes his neck looked like it was as wide as his hips it was kinda freaky.

I think I liked it. It made me think about crazy existential things and stuff. It was also an insanely pretty movie! Pitch and Toothiana were my favourites. Some of it was really sad too. Like I really liked Pitch because at his core, he just really wants to exist. What if your very existence hinges on the fear of others? That's really tragic. I need to see it not baked though.
