Sephiroth should have Killed Cloud?

Ok, sooo im not sure if this was ever a topic or not... so i'll just throw this out there.


During the Final Fight between Cloud & Sephiroth in Advent Children, Sephiroth technically could have Killed Cloud, and in my opinion WON the the Fight... if Sephiroth would have just kept his mouth shut and just stabbed Cloud through his Chest or Stomach rather than his Shoulder when Cloud was Down against the Wall!

That part still ERKS Me! How about you? What do you think about this part?

Sephiroth is, like many villains, an arrogant prick who feels the need to shamelessly mock his opponents and take away any semblance of hope they may have before he finishes them off. Hence him not immediately killing Cloud.

You think he would have learned after the first Omnislash time around, but apparently having a god-complex makes you a bit thick about these things.

Well, while it didn't put the argument to rest, as I assume nothing short of Cloud dying would, he didn't stab Cloud in the shoulder. He stabbed him in the chest and then eight more times all over the rest of his body. The alterations and additions in Advent Children Complete have replaced Advent Children.

ACC also shows that Sephiroth did learn from Omnislash the first time around as he had the perfect countermove for it. He didn't learn Cloud's ability to snatch victory from the jaws of defeat, but he certainly put him in a worse way than he ever has before.

It does not. He still gets his "Tell me what you cherish most" line in, but Cloud is pretty much bleeding out (or at least by all rights should be) at that point rather than pinned to a wall.

I mean shit... if a stab to the Chest didn't Kill Cloud, maybe a STAB TO HEAD WOULD!! LOL (if that same scene still exists in AC:Complete, if not, then i guess... i'll have to see the Complete Version then re-visit this topic later)

I personally think a large part of the reason Cloud doesn't die from the amounts of damage inflicted on him is because of his will to live. He may be somewhat weak-minded but he's shown he really wants to live, so much so he survives the barrage of deeply inflicted pain and wounds. That and the obvious fact that he cares deeply for those dear to him. I second Force's 1st post as well, no matter how battered Cloud gets, his will to live and protect his friends defies the odds.

Does't Cloud also get Stabbed through his Chest with Sephiroth Sword in FFVII in the Mako Reactor? Was it at Nibelheim? I forget...

Then he throws Sephiroth down into the Mako Stream... HOW THE HELL DID HE SURVIVE THAT???

^ Yes he does, pretty much in the same spot he was impaled on in ACC, hence Sephiroth's "Is this the pain you felt before, Cloud?" line. Also, yes, the event happened in Nibelheim's Mako Reactor. As for him surviving, I'm positive his will came into play that time too, imo.

What counter move was this? Are you talking about when Cloud jumps out of the rubble and Seph impales him in midair? 'Cause that was no Omnislash.

Yes it was. That was Omnislash, but Sephiroth was ready for every strike, and waiting for the final leap in the air to skewer him. We even determined it was the same number of slashes (13).

X-SOLDIER also put together a bunch of comparison shots from each strike from both moves, but I can't find the post.

My bad. I went back and watched the fight again - I forgot there was all those strikes before he jumps up and gets owned, so I thought it was just Braver.
