Ok so minecraft is a game i play aloooooot,
Basically its a sandbox game where you have to build yourself a shelter to survive through out the night while enemies spawn outside and attempt to kill you.
Ive become fairly good at creating house type structures in it and have decided to give a shot at recreatiing final fantasy buildings. Im starting off with the Shinra mansion in FF7 , and if things goes smoothly ill attempt at recreating nibleheim village as well.
If that goes smoothly ill do my best to make buildings that you guys can vote for.

These buildings take time... alot of time, the last house i built took about 9-12 hours total to just build (this isnt including the time to obtain the materials) so i cant just do them in one afternoon lol.

If you want to check out some of the things ive built check out my channel
http://www.youtube.com/user/SushiSushiplease?feature=mhum
I just made it the other day lol, but the videos named the sushi fort and sushi fort v2 show my latest building (the one that took atleast 10 hours to make).
Any who i need help for this first creation im having trouble finding screen caps of the shinra mansion on the inside so if you guys could give me a hand it would rock.

And a random quote from the minecraft thread here on tls.
Will do
Again though any screen shots would be awesome, so far all ive been able to get are very small caps of the stairs into the basement and an outside shot of the mansion from the middle of nibleheim village.
I already cleared out the area where ill build the mansion ( i even built into the side of a mountain to recreate mount. nible ) im just reluctant to start building the actual mansion or even the fence due to my resources being very limited in game and out of game right now X)

So its been about 3 hours since i started working on it, so far ive finished the actual frame of the home including all the rooms, all i have to do is just fill in the empty space with walls and roofs.
After that im going to start digging out the basement.
Then after that decorating the actual home, theres not alot to go with so the inside will most likely be bland but i got some cool ideas for the best part of the house, the basement :)

The hardest challenge for me though has definitly been the lay out of the home, obviously if you were to litterally walk in this home you would find out it would never work in real life lol. I loaded up FF7 on my ps3 and went from room to room making the bones of the house, well the way the game shows you walking through the room seems cool but once you start forming it out you realize that theres no way in hell they can actually connect xD

But somehow i ended up being able to connect them, its definitly not in the shape of a proper home but im doing a few neat tricks to make it look like its normal on the outside and on the inside :)

Im going to take a big break though, my backs killing me and im starving, when i get back ill show some screen caps of what it looks like so far :)

Just finished the basement, all i really need to do now is finish up the roof and add in some finishing touches.
I decided not to screen cap due to everything looking lame unfinished lol.
The video will be up some time tomorrow morning/afternoon. Im going to bed right now though xD

A video of you trying to survive while the monsters try to come in? Or of building the mansion?

Just a video of the mansion, like a walk through of the rooms and they way they turned out.
I usually build the houses so its impossible for enemies to get in anyway lol.

Good morning everyone!!
So as i said last night all i really have left to do right now is finish up the roof and decorate the house :D
Im currently doing that but i thought i would show what the house looks like from the top of the mountain its built into.
mansionh.jpg

the way to make stuff in minecraft is to lay it block by block, and you only have a reach of up to 3 blocks away so things can get tricky, like building high cieilings or constructing roofs from the inside out xD
As you can see the house doesnt really follow a set structure for a real home, like i said earlier the way its laid out in game would make that impossible, but i did my best to make it feel like your in the game while still making it look real as well.
So maybe in like 2 or so hours you guys can see the final product :)

edit:
Roof is finished, as is the ceiling all thats left is decorating the rest of the house then ill make the video.
But that will take awhile due to something just having come up ill have to make the vid later, im sorry guys.

Looks slammin' Gabe! I'm surprised that you seem to have whipped it together so quickly - then again, I don't know much about Minecraft. Either way, I'm lookin forward to seeing more of it, especially the video! :D

So on another forum i visit, i posted this vid and someone thought of making a blitzball dome+stadium...
I think ill be doing that next, it should definitely be possible in minecraft i might have to make it a collabertive effort though with a friend, due to just the dome/bubble thing being so darn large.

Thinking of doing another Minecraft project that is final fantasy related. I really want to get some more variety up on my youtube channel, and as cheap as it is Minecraft really brings in the hits, my shinra mansion had something like 5k views on the old channel.

I just dont really know what to make. Someones already made Balamb Garden from FF8, and ive been pretty detatched from Final Fantasy for several years now that i cant really think of an Iconic location or building that can be built (reasonably).

Current Ideas.

Cocoon from FF13. Kind of a contradiction from what I said earlier considering its massive but the Idea is to build the outer shell only rather then an entire inner world. It could be possible if I dig a very large trench then begin building the structure in the space over the trench. Reason for the trench is that Minecraft only lets you go so High in the sky, so i can create the illusion of height by lowering the ground :monster:

Blitzball stadium: Not as hard as it may seem. On my last playthrough of Minecraft before my data got wiped i built the frame of a Luca remake in about 2 days time.
Problem is the Iconic Blitzball Water-field would be impossible with the way water physics works in this game. I could build a large glass dome and then fill it in with water, but part of the awesomness of Blitzball is that its in a self sustained bubble. Boo.

Besaid Island: The biggest issue here is finding an island thats the right size. It might be better to create an artificial island instead by laying stone blocks under water then using sand blocks ontop of them for the land. Do note i wont do the entire huge Island, but probably the areas that you go through as Tidus in FFX, the lake area, hill top and the village complete with the cloyster of trials.

If you havent noticed, Im thinking of making something relatively large. Atleast larger then the Shinra mansion. I am open to smaller requests and ideas though. So if any of you may be interested in seeing something done in minecraft I can definitely give it a try.

Ive considered a reactor, but I hate the Idea of working with obsidian blocks for the simple fact that they take ages to break if i place them wrong lol.

Working on the plates and different levels, and a massive minecart system to mock the train system would be delightful though... Hmm.

Double post but whatever.

Im making Midgar. Its going to be awhile though... a long while.

Current ideas to help not make it so daunting.

1. I'm only building House shells. Not every building/House will have an interior unless it was an important location or memorable building. Aka: Most buildings wont have rooms, or multiple floors. I will how ever probably return to decorate them after the city is over.

2. Will dig out an entire valley for it like the cocoon idea. So i dont run into the height limit. This will be useful in the long run so that i wont have to make accommodations for the height limit if i run into it as if i were playing at sea level.

3. Creative mode. I was thinking of doing this in survival mode with a inventory editor but Obsidian ore and what not do take awhile to break down in case of mistakes. I can also fly in Creative mode, So i wont have to build sky bridges only to later tediously tear them down.

Issues:

1.Shinra tower/ Sister ray: God damn it why did these have to be in midgar.

2. If i dig a valley its going to look weird and wrong next to the ocean.... im going to have to level off the entire and then artifically extend the ocean. Hopefully I can find a Island with a mountain on side and the ocean on the other so that the setting atleast looks right. I dont want to build a mountain ._.

3. I wont be using a mod to import creations/geographic features/buildings , ect.

Quirky Ideas:

I think i might build a Weapon standing on the shore line, and if all goes to plan I think i can build a beam of the sister ray in the sky flying towards it. Ofcourse it wont be in movement, its going to be more like its stuck in time or something.
