Anyone else more interested in Versus?

It seems like it'll be the more entertaining game to me. Not because it's a PS3 exclusive or any nonsense like that, but because of the new battle system, the world, art design, and the fact that they've said that the Versus team is more or less the same as the FF7 team blended with the KH team. The trailers have definitely given me an FF7 vibe.

I've read that they've even worked in a day/night cycle that works in conjunction with the real time lighting, which would definitely be a first for a single player FF RPG(have any japanese RPGS incorporated this so far this console life cycle?).

Character design seems a lot more subtle and less in your face than a lot of recent RPGs, save for the abundance of pretty boys(but bleh, that be japanese tradition).

So what are your thoughts? Also, does anyone here have a compilation of all the info on the game released so far? I'd like to make that a tenant of the conversation.

To be perfectly honest, I figured you would hate Versus, as Nomura is plastered all over it. But I suppose I could be lumping you into an inappropriate group.

I think it has great potential, the trailers are great and I really like that song in the newest one. The Shakespearean overtone with a seemingly Romeo and Juliet theme could be toyed with very well, and the all male main cast could be fun and different. (The incredibly anime "Noctis" and "Stella" names are rather ugh, but besides that)

I'm very curious what the combat will be like. Its AC's and KH's team, and judging by its apparent success, it could be inspired by Dissidia. It would be interesting to see a Dissidia-style system against multiple enemies. The Brave idea would just slow things down, but the other parts of it (air dashing, timing/combo combinations, mid-air chase sequences) could work pretty well.

Personally, I'm more excited for XIII, both for the look of it and the fact that an entry in the series proper hasn't really enthralled me since X. But I still think Versus has a lot of promise, especially in the atmosphere.

Honestly, I think Versus will be better than XIII. Maybe I'm just building up the small bits of what I've seen from the former, but all the same I see Versus as the game with more potential. Really can't explain why. Aside from cba, that is.

Frankly sir, you offend me. Nomura has taken a less pronounced route in terms of character in design, so I don't see the need to complain in this game. Haven't really seen Nomura plastered all over it

I thought the whole lame Shapespeare thing is pretty heavy handed and unappealing, even though it seems to have a much more mature overtone than XIII.

I'm sure there'll be people flying all over the air and flashy shit with explosions coming out of swords and shit. Hope there's a female melee fighter in it though, not enough of those in FF for me.

FFXIII seems mostly blah to me, an I started to lose more interest when Steve Harvey showed up and I never liked the silly transforming summons stuff.

I don't know why, but Versus captured my attention much more than the normal XIII did. I don't think there is a real reason for this, I just tend to gravitate to that title more from what I see in the trailers.

Versus will be better imo, i just like the atmosphere and kind of setting the game takes place in, much more like FF7 in some cases. It looks more realistic and not too fantasy, and also the clothing looks real, and not over-done. which i like. i haven't looked into this game for a while now, so i suppose some things have changed.

if i remember Dragon Quest 3/Dragon Warrior 3, is the first jrpg that incorporated day/night cycle, but yeah, dq is old school stuff, so maybe FFversusXIII maybe the first 3d jrpg to have day/night cycle with real time lighting, lol

and yeah i think noctis is like cloud in black hair in that trailer, lol
