Like I mentioned in this post, if TLS were to make a community over at livejournal, members who've joined the community should be able to contribute as well, whether it be fanfiction or a theory on a Final Fantasy game. That way the staff aren't the only ones limited to sharing and it'll definitely allow members to play more active roles in the community.
You can also separate varying posts with an useful tool livejournal has called tags, which basically enables you to group and organize entries. That way people who might want to look back at previous entries don't have to hassle and search for the content themselves, it'll be like looking at an index. Easy.
As far as content goes, this is just an idea of what the community should have and allow: discussions, downloads, questions, fanworks (fanfiction, fanart, etc.), reviews, requests, characters (each character would have it's own tag), suggestions, summaries, media related shit, updates, etc. And, linking the site and forums would be good too.

Fan content is definitely a plus for most members over at livejournal. Though, shouldn't just be limited to fanart, but fanfiction, vidding, graphics, and any form of art should be taken in consideration as well.A large thing that we've moved towards as a site is trying to get user content / fanart / etc. hosted on TLS. It's our main reason for adding a seperate Fan Content section to the Compilation area of the forums. We'd like to get more of the fanbase that's into FFVII-related projects, etc as a big part of the site. Yop's looking into hosting a gallery for fanart, similiar to how some other sites do, though we're having some bumps with integrating user accounts. I'd like to see those types of creativity come over here and start up some stuff in the Fan Content section if possible, but I'm not really sure where that bumps up with the idea of a LJ Community.
There is always the possibility that members can post at both places. I think it's a good idea that it's up to them whether or not they want to post it on TLS as well.Whether or not they want to host the stories, etc on their LJ, or post them on TLS is really up to them, but having them join the forums and integrate with the community here is something that we're looking for, because we're trying to expand as a site.
It's definitely possible, but if you plan on integrating the two communities together, you'd have to start off with attracting the members over at LJ into TLS. Posting links to articles or events where you can only find see/participate in unless you join TLS would be a solid start. Of course, building a member base over at LJ should be top priority for now. :nom:Those are some of the "in the works" things that we've got going on, and I wanted to bounce them off of you, and see if/how we could integrate the two together, because it seems like there's a lot of promise for helping the site grow in the ways that we'd like it to.
The community could keep LT related discussions with it's own tag. Or maybe even ban LTD discussions over at LJ and keep it as a rule that if you want to ask questions related to the LTD or want to debate about the LTD, you participate in the thread that TLS has atm.The thing that worries me about having a community on LJ is the LTD. If we set up a thread/post to discuss it, it's going to be swamped and crazy... and with the way commenting is set up, it won't be easy to read or reply.
Also, I think we should really make a rule about no trolling/hating on there. If we want to attract people and get them to stay, we don't want tons of, "OMGZ, TIFA/AERITH IS A BITCH" or "INTERNET CATS IS LULZ!"
That's an awesome idea, X.

And definitely no trolling for sure, but we'd probably be limiting on user powers if we do ban anti-entries. We could keep that in it's own tag.
I'll pretend I knew that and I was just reminding you. :bmonster:A section devoted to fan-created Compilation content and projects of all kinds. Artwork, Fanfics, videos, ALL FFVII fan work is welcome here.
I'll pretend I knew that and I was just reminding you. :bmonster:
And I'll make a community right now - do you just want it named thelifestream?

Sigh... Oh the LTD... We really should put rules in place over here about those things, since we'll be working to support a fan community and pairings might become a big deal again. I've gone SO long without even looking at that thread....

LJ is a great idea since it has a huge userbase. Plus, a lot of the FF comms there are actually pretty damn active, even if it is for icon posts.
The frequency of articles is kind of a big thing, I think. If someone visits the site and sees the latest article was from a few weeks ago... it gives the impression of a dead/stalling community.
It turns out TheLifestream is a deleted and purged account. If you want, you could reserve the name, but it costs fifteen dollars. I'd chip in but my paypal isn't working at the moment.
Turn's out that Paypal's not the only option; I'll buy the account tonight if it's okay with you.
