So which hero got the shaft?

That's the Cecil I remember - honorable and righteous, things get to him but he tries not to let it show, and questioning the mortality of his actions.

Cecil was moping within the first five minutes of the original game. Yes, he's honorable and righteous, perhaps one of the most righteous of the main heroes (he's a goddamn Paladin for crissakes), but yeah, he's kinda a naturally mopey guy.

Yeah, I said he mopes at the start. But once he becomes a Paladin, I don't remember any moping really, not until he finds out the G-man is his brother.

Listen closely, there is meaning in my words.

Again. He mopes regarding Rosa like 3 different times during the game. Not to mention regarding Kain and his betrayals. How could you forget that?

God forbid a guy be troubled! Every hero moped in their story. That's the point. They have an internal struggle to over come and thus rise above it. Cecil's an angsty guy by default. He angsts a hell of a lot more than that. He angsted over Rosa being kidnapped by Golbez and also having the Desert fever as well. And he worries about bringing her with him to the moon as well. He's a worrisome guy. Bullpies.

Yeah, that's what I was getting at. I'm not crying out saying the characters defied who they were identified as in the original games. All I was saying is that, in general, every hero in this game has a lot of internal issues. Wimpy was a poor word choice, that is certain, but the essence of what I was trying to say remains; the heroes have their issues.

And ForceStealer, while Cloud was pretty badass on the outside, giving the others a reason to look up to him, he WAS troubled on the inside. Like when Cloud tells Cecil, Tidus, and Firion to slow down, and they call him brave. Immediately, Cloud doubts himself. He is strong on the outside, yet troubled within. Still a flawed hero in my mind, if only for the times he lets his worries get the best of him.

Squall definitely got the shaft in this one. I mean I always though Squall's design was pretty cool, but wow did they made him look queer...
