Spyro the Dragon - Unreal Engine

Somebody has begun a project to redesign the first Spyro the Dragon game using Unreal Engine 4. While many different sites (Kotaku, Cinema Blend, and Games Radar, for example) present the images and discuss their interest in seeing more, the creator's Reddit account does in fact point out that it is a project in the making (and not just a test at the time).

It seems the news of this has only picked up recently, but the last update on Reddit was a month ago - which is, all things considered, not so long ago. The screenshots published to Imgur were two months ago.

See the gallery here.

So, while this case is unlikely to develop any further, it still makes for some interesting viewing in the meantime ^_^

The creator is aware of the many graphical changes needing to take place, as evident from the comments section on his Reddit account, so this can be considered little more than the first draft of the Artisans Homeworld.

Your impressions?
Would you play this game redesigned as such? It might be difficult to capture the charm of the original and, considering its overall graphical style and content, make it work (but it's far from impossible). Yet, with a clear nod at keeping to the original layout of the game, therein lies perhaps the greatest temptation to play.
And how far do you think the project can/will go?

The lighting in "case one" goes a long way towards capturing the feeling of the original. "Case two" feels a bit too clean to me. But I'd probably play either since I like Spyro a lot. :)

Indeed. According to what he/she says on the Reddit account, the aim is to get it looking a little

I think the creator has the talent to pull off a legitimate revamp. It would be interesting to know how long it took to create it; it'd be a primary factor in the dedication to continue. I do wonder if he/she is working with a small team, or will come to.

I'd be happy just to explore a few levels of the first world - better a partially complete and released version than a fully (or, an almost) complete game but never released [well, from the perspective of everyone else, anyway :P]
