Stupid obsessive-compulsive shit you do in games

I am trying to get to the rank of Order of Ambrosia in Final Fantasy XII. :P

For one, you've got to finish everything; all hunts, all special hunts, even defeat Omega Mark XII...

I don't care if I could use Hi-potions or X-potions or whatever ... must always have 99 potions.

Yeah, I feel compelled to have 99 of almost everything too. :P

In DMC/etc, I'm obsessive about not using healing items EVER.

THIS, too. I'll very rarely bust out a holy water, but pretty much never a healing item. I think it's incidental when you're going for no-damage playthroughs.

I usually can't stand it when I carry an B rank or less on individual missions, either.

If I lose the bitch-fight against Scarlet in FFVII, I will reset.
It hasn't happened often, but losing in that slap-battle is utter disgrace. Despite this fight doesn't echoe at all through the game I must win it. The same with other minigames that don't affect the game afterwards.

In Gran Turismo 4, when starting a race in the Nurburgring, if i didn't go at least 0.1 seconds faster than my previous time in the first checkpoint, i would restart the race immediatly.

In Sonic 1, if i would loose my rings in the first level, i would restart the game immediatly.

Other than that, in terms of Final Fantasy, i also suffer from the "99 of all items" and "talk to everyone" syndromes. :monster:

Hell yea. People who have the same insanity in playing games. :awesome:

Damn it. The reason for my limited game playing/completion is because I have the OC virus. NUUUUUUUUUUUU!

I stopped playing FFX because I couldn't get Lulu's ultima. Damn Lightning bolts. I mean, I got everyone's already..and I was there...but NOOOOOOOO, I had the urge to get hers too. Damn it.

And I remember Tekken. O_____________O. I had to restart all the story mode until I make it to stage 12 without dying. I spend hours practicing moves. And even though I do in, I retry if I can't do the combination I want. FUCK!

Even in Bust-a-Groove. I had to do everything again and again til I get 'fever time' in all the stages.

And don't even get me started at those games with "treasure chsets." Damn it. I have to search each corner of the map everytime. XDDDDD

Owell. :monster:..guess I'm not cut out to be one of those gamer chicks.

Nothing out of the ordinary over here. I keep two savegames at all times, often three, so I can backtrack if things go down the shitter or I accidentally save over a previous savegame.

I used to open up every container in Morrowind back when, try to get into every house, look in every container there... and yes, there's a whole lot of 'em, :monster:. I did that on several games, too, often gathering the items that were worth some (10 gold or more) and selling them. Those that have played that game know that 99% of the stuff you find in the containers is random junk as well, so you end up opening loads upon loads of containers just to look at yet another random alchemy ingredient, bucket, cutlery, etc. xD

And I know a dozen ways of 'powerleveling' a lot of the skills in Morrowind - their systems are easy to abuse. Hop and jump down like a madman at the massive stairs in Vivec, go down into the Water Puzzle (or whatever the room in that same temple is called) and piss off the dremora there, who starts beating you shitless, but you can't die in that room so you can abuse that to train all your armor skills. And run around with the weakest weapon all the time - you get XP for hits, not damage.

On that, I think Morrowind was the most OCD game for me to date. I don't think I'd repeat that anytime soon for any game - wasn't, for example, as bad with Oblivion.

I keep at least 3 different saves for every game I play. I only rename the Pokemon on my main team (cause idgaf about any of the others unless I'm forced to level them for Pokedex purposes). I also always have a certain system of how much ammo I have for each gun, at least one of each grenade at any given time. I like to be well stocked lol.

I can't stand sucking at any action game.

I don't just have to win. I have to make it through on top. If I'm shit at any game, I really beat myself up about it.

Mass Effect... I have to get every mineral, gas, Turian emblem, Prothean artifact, Asari writing, League of One medallion, scan every Keeper, save every hostage, do every quest, visit every world, be a perfect Renegade, kill Kaiden, fuck Ashley, fuck the Consort, and always have Wrex in my party.

In any game, I check the map every minute. Even though I know exactly where I'm going

Oh, and any game I'm playing, when I'm saving I have to round it to the nearest 5.

Same here. Getting the King of Hell for DMC1 was a BITCH, btw.

I have to buy strategy guides for every game I get, not because I can't beat bosses or whatever, but because I want to make sure I don't miss items or fuck up my chances to get a good weapon/ending/whatever (see Zodiac Spear, FFXII).

Also, Dacon reminded me of something else: in action games, I refuse to use magic unless I'm desperate. DMC's Devil Trigger, any magic in God of War or Ninja Gaiden, whatever - I won't use it, because otherwise I'm only getting through on the back of the magic, and maybe I'll need it for the boss or something. I will only DT if I will die otherwise (in which case I'm resetting the mission anyway :awesomonster:), I will only use Poseidon's Rage or the Earth/Lightning magic in GoW2 for combo jankness or if I get hopelessly surrounded/outnumbered, and I don't use magic in NG2 because...well, it sucks :monster:

I always have to pick up all the stray rupees and heart pieces lying around in Zelda games, even if I'm already at the maximum level of rupees/life energy.

OMG! Same here. xDDD It feels wrong if I dosen't take them all o_o
And when I was younger I always had to talk to every person in FF7. Towns-people and etc. If I didn't, it felt wrong. <_<
:awesome: Lulz, in TR: Anniversary I always shoot the gorillas even if they already are dead.

Must make sure my hearts are always full. Must be sure that my weapons are all level 9999 in Disgaea games. Must defeat evil Prinny Baal. Must steal everything awesome from vendors. Must get highest level in all games. Must get every awesome item in Odin Sphere. Must get all jiggies and all the honeycombs. Must complete every sidequest. Must then kill all of Balmora and take everyone's houses. Must get Big Boss rank.

I just thought about this, in regards to all of us: How great and successful we'd all be if we used these same traits and conditons in life as we do in our video games?

Of course, life has challenges we cannot forsee, and as far as I know, there's no god or goddess who's written up a complete guide to the game Caporeal Life and placed it on the web.

More from me: Sometimes I have to check things a few times over, even though I did so before and know nothing's going to be there. Better safe than sorry, I think. :P

Ninaki - I do that, too! I only beat the NIS games so I can unlock the postgame stuff. I don't consider it complete until the game is my bitch :wacky:

Also, in GTA, anyone who starts anything with me, no matter how slight, must die. Don't like me stealing your car? Die. Don't like that I hit your car? Die. Running after me because I'm in the wrong part of town? Die. Running after me because I punched you and ran? Die.

And I get insanely vindictive. I'll set their car on fire just to watch it explode. It's my way of subjugating my natural instincts in a safe environment :monster:

This, and adding that with 'You dare charge me money for sucking my e-dick? Die, whore!'.

:monster:. It's also very gratifying to keep beating corpses with a baseball bat after they're long dead.

I used to be a packrat with items in RPGs, and I still stockpile any item I consider precious (Megalixers, X-potions, etc.) but I'm no longer like that about every item. I actually use items a lot now, I mean, they're there aren't they?

Especially in the FFs where Ethers are hard to come by, I'll favor potions and hi-potions over cure spells because they're so much cheaper/easier to come by that the ether I would need to restore MP.

lol its disturbing but i can't help but do it.

Not so much now, but i always saved my games all the time just incase my handheld ran out of battery or froze or i had to put it down and leave the room for 2 mins. I never liked having to re-do anything i had already completed.

Another thing, I always save my best items. Even if I'm fighting the final boss I still feel reluctant to use them. :|

I used to keep items, but tend to use them more often nowadays. At least if there's easily available.

I usually stock up on stat boosting items if a game has them, though. If I have a team of characters I don't to choose between them. But in the end I usually end up just using them all for the main character now.

And I usually make three saves. But then I start deciding to keep some, and end up with like 20-30 by the end.
