Big news for Sony! The previously Xbox 360 exclusive Tales of Vesperia is indeed coming to the PlayStation 3. The PS3 version will also have an extra character, called Patty Fleur.
NAMCO has also confirmed that the PSP will receive a 3D fighting game called Tales of Versus, which will bring the "Tales of" characters together to battle each other. For now NAMCO has confirmed 4 characters, Yuri (Tales of Vesperia), Luke (Tales of the Abyss), Shing (Tales of Hearts) e Rihita (Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World). The game will let 4 players to battle each other on ad-hoc mode, but no infrastructure mode has been confirmed.

What? I thought this turned out to be bullshit? It was announced a while ago too, but it was debunked I think.

No...this time, it's true. May be ironical for them to announce that at April 1st, but yeah, but after a lot of tricks, Tales of Vesperia is coming to the PS3!

Since I don't have a 360 so I'm not familiar with this game. Is it any good? Will it balance out, say, FFXIII going to the 360 as well?

It's a good game, that sold very well on 360 at both Japan and US. It's a great loss for Microsoft on Japan, not so much on US.
I don't think the loss of exclusivity of FF XIII on US and EU is a critical blow on Sony, cause, FF XIII is still exclusive at Japan, the main market for the series.

Well, the only reason its really exclusive in Japan is that no one would buy the 360 version anyway, so why bother porting it? The loss of FFXIII exclusivity I think was more of a morality blow than a sales one, I feel like PS3 FFXIII sales won't suffer TOO too badly.

I dunno too much about the Tales series, I played one of them for about 5 minutes. Are they related to each other?

I have to say that's bullshit man. Over a million 360s have been sold in japan, and that's mostly because of the rpgs, and visual novels being released on the console.

I don't doubt for a second that quite a few of those guys would buy a 360 version of FF13.

Perhaps, but a grand total of one 360 game has made the best-selling list in any given month in Japan - at number 88 or so.

Didn't Vesperia itself do pretty well? I remember reading about how 360s (or at least the Vesperia set) sold out.

It didnt sell as well as people make it out to be. It sold 220,000 in Japan and it did sell out the 360 when it was released, which means it sold 20 some thousand 360. So, yeah, not that huge. And it sold terrible in the US, like pretty much every RPG on the 360.

I doubt it will sell that great on the PS3 in the US as well, considering its a year after it came out on the 360, and if Eternal Sonata is anything to go by, the 360 version sold like 60-90 thousand and the PS3 version sold 30 some thousand.

Either way, Im getting it. It will have more than a new character though, it will also have extra stuff added to the story, like Eternal Sonata did.

Yeah, it did pretty damn well as far as I'm concerned. And it got 360s off shelves, hell people in japan lined up for the game.

I don't ever remember Japanese folk lining up for a 360 title like that.

That's good for a Tales game this generation. Especially one on the freaking 360.

Tales of the Abyss has only been out for a couple of bloody months, and it's made like 240,000 sales worldwide. It's done well enough for them to justify spending more money to port to the Ps3, and add new features and characters. I don't see how that can be considered a "failure". Hell, it's been popular enough to get a feature film by Production I.G.

The game hasn't broken any records, but it's not like it's been selling like shit. It's the first "next gen" tales title, on a system that isn't really popular in japan, of course it's not going to sell as well as past games on the Ps2 or the Wii, which damn near everyone owns.

I didnt say it was a failure. I just said it didnt sell as well as people make it out to be. It sounds to me that people like to dance around the subject and act like it's always ok if its on the 360 in Japan. If it sold like that on the PS3, it would be hailed as horrible sales. Look at White Knight Chronicles, it sold better than it with a less that great score in famitsu on the PS3, but at the same time, it still didnt sell great. Only like 250-300 thousand.

Lest you forget, Valkyria Chronicles sold terribly, which is sad since its so good, yet it's gettings its own entire anime, so that really isnt any indicator of the success of the game.

Bah. Not worth debating about.

I totally agree with Dacon, the game sold pretty well at Japan for a Xbox 360 title, and I think it will sell pretty well at PS3. It's a good add to Sony's console at japan... as it's growing up on popularity!
