Cid and Shera are one of the FFVII`s canon couples.
Cid is a pilot and no doubt a gentleman; Shera is a talented scientist and the only woman who was able to see the gentle side of Cid.

I must protest the title. Surely it should be 'God Damn Tea'.

But yes, this was the pairing in the game I came the closest to having any sort of emotional investment in.
When I learned the man had named his airship after her, I let out a triumphant laugh for having guessed it properly.

Engineers are scientists, but not all scientists are engineers. Engineers are scientist concerned with the practical and safe application.
A Nuclear scientist will figure out how to split the atom and draw power from it. A nuclear engineer will make a safe and efficient reactor.

Let Shera be scientists, I think it sounds cooler that 'engineer'. Dont want to correct the word in my original post, since I already spotted myself making a mistake in 'gentleman', duh. My English needs some serious improvement.

Actually, I'd say it's the converse. Engineers typically don't perform experiments, research, otherwise promote the advancement of science. (Hence the lax degree requirements.) They tend to rely on established science as a means to their practical ends, the way scientists themselves use mathematics as a toolbox but aren't mathematicians themselves.

On the other hand, scientists routinely moonlight as engineers on bleeding-edge projects, because only themselves and a handful of highly-specialized researchers are familiar enough with their work to do anything practical with it.

Though we never get to see much of Shera, I do like the idea of Cid settling down with her. I would like to join this group! Personally, Shera's definitely a beautiful soul to put up with such - crass - from Cid. Perhaps a good title is 'Beauty and the Beast'? Cid sure acts like it at times. ;D (Also, I love the 'Banana' .gif - it does fit!)

Well, not all scientists have the same degree requirements. A lot of places require their engineering students have the same tools at hand and take the same courses as 'Science' students of the same field.

On the other hand, scientists routinely moonlight as engineers on bleeding-edge projects, because only themselves and a handful of highly-specialized researchers are familiar enough with their work to do anything practical with it.

Rocketry is definitely one of those fields, where anyone who is an scientist will also most likely be an engineer for it as well. So Cid and Sierra would be both as well.

Sierra. Shera, like Aeris, was a name flub. It doesn't help that there is no character in the syllabary for 'See', just 'She'.

In any case, Cid says the name as 'Sierra' in both English and Japanese, and, IIRC, it's romanized somewhere in an official material (Like Aerith on the CC page) as Sierra.

Cid and Shera, the best Cid pairing in my mind. I love how if you talk to some of the grunts in the engine room in DoC you find out they got married.

I also like Shera because not only does she put up with Cid, she's always nice to people no matter what. I think that's what really mellows out Cid, he's tough as nails, she's sweet as sugar, they complete one another.

But the ship is named after the woman...
In any case, in CoB, she is specifically called Sierra.

I know, that's why I call them differently. I just used to call the woman Shera and then Cid called the ship Sierra in AC, so I just call them like that, brr...

Forget CGs of Shera, there isn't even any official artwork of her that I know of. It's a bit of a shame really. In-game, Lucrecia and Shera look like the same person >_<

I always felt bad for her really. Cid was so cruel to her when Cloud and co. meet them. He's got a load of ass kissing to make for that. In fact, I like the idea of Shera "wearing the pants" so to speak
