I'm not sure how I feel about him wearing black instead of red but I suppose it is more realistic.

That's what he wore before the other get-ups (see "The Man Without Fear" origin story by Frank Miller). He'll probably transition to the costume at some point.

I know very little about Daredevil, but his bandana covers his ears. Isn't that how he gets his information about the world?

The black mask reminds me of when he guest-starred on the 70s Hulk show. But yeah, red costume is inevitable.

Not sure if fabric over his ears would help soften outside noise (he'd still hear the friction). He can feel ink letters on a newspaper to read, unless they retconned that.
