The Legend of Tarzan

Seeing Sam Jackson in it freaked me out, @ 1:20 specifically. I don't know too much about Tarzan outside of the Disney movie I've seen like once and Kingdom Hearts. The visual direction, use of the period, and Christoph Waltz as Clayton are all very cool choices. I am intrigued.

CGI monkeys! Lots of CGI monkeys!

I don't really know if I want to see this or not. In a way yes, but the trailer was so all over the place. Even though it looked nice I didn't get anything else from it except that it's a film about Tarzan before I went to see the film's wikipedia page. But there are good actors in it. And I think Alexander Skarsgård is in a good shape. :awesome:

I think I'll wait for another trailer before making my mind about seeing it.

It's funny because I look at Skaarsgard and think of the cartoon Tarzan and there isn't anyone more fitting for the role, and yet I would never initially assume him to be a good fit for it. Now, watching that, all I can say is omnomnomnomnom

It seems like an interesting take, but I've never been a huge fan of the story of Tarzan in general.

But I've heard that apparently the original novels are very different from any adaptation that has ever been made. Makes me curious to read them if so.

If by different you mean that Tarzan and Jane move back to England, get married, do pretty well for themselves and then move back to Africa, then yeah, the books are very different from the moves. Also, Tarzan is really smart and can speak several different human languages and weird stuff happens, like Tarzan and the rest of his family become immortal weird...

Keep in mind that the original Tarzan novels were written by Edgar Rice Burroughs, who is also well known for his John Carter of Mars series and The Land That Time Forgot series. So several Sci-Fi elements creep into the later novels like finding lost civilizations, visiting other planets, ect.

Fortunetly, the first eight books in the series are out of copyright now in the USA and can be found on http://www.gutenberg.org ...

Looks interesting.

I want to see an adaptation (not including the Disney one) nail it. Others that have come before in recent years have apparently not done well.
