On the subject of the Star Wars EU being canon according to Lucas: He pretty much said the opposite. Always said he sees it as a separate "parallel" universe.
There's a reason why they had tiers of canon instead of it being just *one* canon. Anything lower than the official George Lucas canon *could* be seen as one continuity if you so wished but technically none of that had any relevance to the core canon because outside of a few elements here and there, Lucas ignored the EU.

Copypasta'd from Wookieepedia:

"Anything not in the current version of the films is irrelevant to Film only continuity."

This statement confirms the priority of the "current version of the films" over the original versions, as well as the existence of two separate continuities, the "film only" continuity maintained and followed by George Lucas himself, and the "film + EU" continuity that is used for licensed products.

Subsequent questioning over which continuity was "more official" revealed that Mr. Chee favored film + EU continuity, but in the end it was up to the individual fan:

"You're asking the Keeper of the Holocron, so of course I'm gonna be a bit biased ... The reality is that a huge number of people who have seen all 6 Star Wars films have never played a Star Wars game, visited a Star Wars website, watched a Star Wars television program, read a Star Wars publication, or purchased a Star Wars action figure or collectible. It would be great disservice to discount these people as fans."

TheLifestream.net and The Lifestream Final Fantasy Podcast won the UFF Awards. We need to bring that up in the Retro Pod and the next proper Podcast.

I love how the one guy read the results for the Podcast vote and went WTF before announcing it. To be honest, I was surprised the podcast managed to catch up that fast too.

I find myself extremely humbled by the win. That's fucking awesome. We will definitely shout out Joe, Caleb, UFF, and all that voted for us on the next podcast!

Honestly the thing that offends me about Lightning entering the fashion world is that people enjoy (or square enix thinks people enjoy) Lightning enough that she would be considered for advertising outside of FF.
