Halle Bailey (not Halle Berry like my mind keeps reading) has been cast as Ariel, as she's got a spectacular voice.

Also, I feel like it's of utmost importance for Disney to make a deal with DC, so that Arthur and Mera from Aquaman (2018) can be her parents, and that they can ACTUALLY make the most ambitious crossover event in history, because I mean come on: they're the perfect undersea family.

I really hate that Disney feels the need to make live action movies of their animated movies. Because aside from money....why?


edit: that being said, I'm mildly interested in seeing the underwater VFX.

I'm curious as to if they're going to do play-by-play like I hear Lion King is doing, or if they'll do old/new like Aladdin, or do a bit more of a mix like in Beauty and the Beast.

Myself, I'm glad to hear of this. About time there was some more representation of minorities in Disney. And while The LIttle Mermaid wasn't my favorite story (a bit too damsel-in-distress for me) I'd be eager to see what they do with it.
