:duhard: Although it's late I was wondering how you all liked the remade versions of some of the songs originally from FFVII : On the verge of assault, Aerith's theme, One winged angel, that music they play in nibleheim that i forget the name of..., the summon theme, im not sure what else..

I have to say i really loved the remade music and Ishimoto did a great job of doing it :D Verge of Assault was very well done in my opinion and ze drums were the shit.

Kinda dissapointed with the one winged angel remake though...i swear in the middle of it they inserted the mr.clean commercial.

I actually liked it. The western theme was interesting; of course, I never really would have seen Nibelheim as 'western' - perhaps maybe North-Central-Mid-West, but... And that's USA, I'm talking about.

One Winged Angel's remake was good, in my opinion; I liked the ending - the notes seeming to imply that this fight isn't over, the future's impending doom. Aerith's theme was just as magical, while keeping that sad, hopeless/hopeful sense to it. :)

I liked the remade music, but only because it's remade from music that was actually great in the first place. Crisis Core's soundtrack isn't TERRIBLE, but sometimes it sounds TOO grungy, like someone just bashed their face in an electric guitar for hours on end.

Tifa had a cowboy outfit, there was a water tower, ergo, it's western :monster:.

The One Winged Angel rearrangement reminded me of something Danny Elfman would make. Mind you, this isn't negative at all. :duhard:

I thought that they were pretty good. I loved hearing the Nibelhem Song (Anxious heart?). Mostly because I had totally forgotten the song but recognized it immediately.

I also thought the arrangement of One-Winged Angel was very good. And all the rest, battle, boss, turks, shinra, etc Ithought were well done.

However, my favorite might be the credit roll, Fulfilled Desire. I liked hearing FF7's main theme along with Aeris', battle, and Crisis Core's theme.

I thought that the CC version of OWA sounded like something that would have been in a Harry Potter movie. lol

That'd be John Williams though. :monster:

In any case...what's up with the song translations of the CC soundtrack? Everywhere I look the translations seem to be different. I just looked at wikipedia and it seems they too have changed the translations.
Like that last song, in my track list it's called The Inherited Hope. Others have called it Fulfilled Desire. Wiki now calls it Living Legacy. Wtf.

Get your ass in here hito, I want clarification. :duhard:

Looking at Wiki, they seem to be pretty liberal with the song translations. No idea where they might have come from :monster: With a smaller game you probably would just get one set of translations and that'd be it, but this is FF so you're going to get dozens of conflicting versions.

I would say 'Ihnerited Hope' would be the closest (????????, Wish/Feeling that will be inherited). 'Living Legacy' was something from the English game, wasn't it?

Well translations are always nice and much appreciated :D I almost found OWA too be like an evil Christmas carol...well aint that strange? :D I do have to agree with MOG that sometimes it did get a bit too grundgy...i actually like rock so i don't mind much but if you have a head ache the CC soundtrack isn't the best thing to listen to!

I liked the remade music. It just sounded great...Though, FFVII music was great to begin with.

Wiki apparently got the names from the iTunes release. English Wikipedia goes by the English release names, and the Japanese are next to them.

I loved most of the CC OST, especially the remixes.

I'm actually not entirely fond of the OWA remix, though, probably because it doesn't seem to fit the tone of the rest of the OST. I like that it's set up almost more like a prelude version, ending where the original starts, but I think I'd have preferred it purely instrumental and more in the style of the rest of the OST, rather than orchestral and choral.

Though it can get a little grudgy, like M.O.G. said, i overall liked the Crisis Core Soundtrack.

Highlights would be "The World's Enemy" and "Mission Start", the latest being the best theme in the entire OST, in my opinion.

I loooooove Mission Start :D They just added a whole new yummy twist to it by inserting the CC theme. Not sure which composer did that though...i think it wassss takahashi? I forget the name... Anyways forgot to mention i liked the new shinra theme too

Kazuhiko Toyama arranged the orchestral stuff.

For the most part I enjoyed it. The World's Enemy and On the Verge of the Assault were terrific in my opinion, as were SOLDIER Battle, The Truth Behind the Project, and The Price of Freedom.

I can't say I like The Summoned though. It was too different from the original, I didn't recognize it at first, and it lacks the pizazz of the original or Black Mages version of Those Who Fight Further.

I've only heard a handful of tracks from the game.

Anxious Heart is nice, except for that stupid little beat in the background. It doesn't ruin it, but it feels unnecessary.

Yeah, I like Crisis Core's better. It feels alot more modern and at the same time it remembers its place and doesn't get futuristic on you. CC did this one justice.

Fight On!
Nope. I like the original better. This is one of those cases where CC tries to be TOO modern. They tried to change it too much. The thing about this one is that it fits Crisis Core...but it's not a good rendition of the original song, if you know what I mean.

Let the Battles Begin!
Nah, I don't like this one. Not really for any reason. It's just I prefer the original better.

The Turks Theme
Nope. I hate all the Turk theme remixes throughout the Compilation. Nothing will ever touch the original version. Nothing at all.

Aerith's Theme
For me, this one's hard. I mean, I love the original version so much. However, CC puts its own twist on it and it fits the game so well. I guess they're equally good. Neither one is better than the other.

Shinra Company
NO. CC pussified this song. It lacks the drama and menace of the original version. A big fat no to this one.

Heart of Anxiety
I would've said it was better than the original if not for two things: that annoying beat in the background. Once again, CC tries to be too modern. And the fact that they don't do the whole song. Still, I love the piano and violin so much. THAT'S preferable to the original. In the end, though...no.

One-Winged Angel
Nah. Only because CC shortens it, and so it lacks the power of the original.

In the end, I think CC didn't do alot of justice to the original songs. They added nice little tidbits that were very great additions, but overall...nah.

Crisis Core is probably one of my top favorite FF soundtracks, because it got so deeply ingrained in me when I played it. A lot of catchy, memorable tunes, but I honestly couldn't shake Under the Apple Tree for a long while since then. I stood out as the definitive theme, at least for me, and I kind of associate it with Zack, Angeal and Genesis listening to it now. Very nostalgic listening to it sometimes...

Anxious Heart was pretty special to, had a good atmosphere to it.
