Yeah, I'm not sure, but I think the egg trigger was relocated to the boards in the PC version.

And no, I found the numbers myself originally, but I actually found them by accident. I tend to hit the button a lot, as habit, since old RPGs occasionally had hidden items and such.

i see,they relocated it so people can go crazy trying to find out what was the meant of it!! Also,i got the guide only a years ago and played ff7 for first time nine years ago so i discovered all the secrets all alone ^^

yes that's right,but could be that the "special materia"? After all the guidebook is not a materia i guess.. Anyway i want to show you those screens (sorry about the pityful quality),the first one is where you find the number,and the second one is where Cloud turns and you heard that noise.. There are no number there as you can see.

Where the floor makes a noise is the "starting point", isn't it? The instructions say you have to take x steps into y direction etc and then you get to the point in the first pic.
