What is a trope?... example plox?

edit: ok I took the 10 minutes necessary to get the info and I don't think this will work. A trope is some fact or joke that television uses over and over again like the 'can't tell a joke' idea. In movies there is often someone that sucks at jokes. Another trope is the 'guys like cheerleaders' trope. All guys like cheerleaders in all movies. its a fact. Its a trope.

In fact, every guy here fits that last trope. there.
