It's probably been changed due to how the Blade is drawn when initiating combat. Crisis Core / Dissidia / etc shows a more natural motion for removing a large sword from the character's back. When it slides across, the blade is always facing forwards. FFVII's only really shows the sword going back on Cloud's back, as he enters the battle with it already drawn at the ready. Removing a lighter sword it would make sense to have the blade facing upwards, as it's coming over with one hand, and meeting into your other in front of you. Thus the blade stays facing forwards the entire time. With hefting a larger sword however, the blade would be facing downwards, because you're hefting a large weight, and bringing it straight down over your body. Both the videos show the classic SOLDIER Victory move, so hopefully it'll make sense.

I suppose I get it. Zack's sheath seems more suited to drawing it over his head while Cloud's is better for pulling it sideways off your back (which still allows for draw-slash motion if you right shoulder is to your target).

Here's what I was referring to, at 2:20 Zack draws it sideways and does that Angeal thing, but you can see he'd have to turn it if we wanted to attack immediately.

Still it's kinda neat the attention to detail here, especially since Cloud does still hold it the FF7 way at the end of CC.

Of course, now he's moved to keeping his sword(s) on his lower back so it's no longer an issue (and that the base sword is double-edged).

Hi everyone. Huge fan of FFVII and just joined. I just wanted to comment on the topic of how Zack sheaths the Buster sword. It would have been more efficient for him to sheath it with the blade facing up IF he was wanting to use the blade. If you recall in CC, Zack mentions using the blunt side to knock out his enemies as he's warning Cloud not to get too close to one of the sword's victims on Mnt. Nibel. He preffered hitting with the blunt side, thus he didn't need to readjust the sword when striking enemies.

That's another point that I forgot about. Thanks for bringing it up! It's another very good possibility. (It's obviously not the way that he's shown fighting with the sword in game, due to the fact that it'd look kinda odd, but it's an excellent point based on what was said in the dialogue).

Yeah that's true, and would explain it. Though I never liked that line. I get what they were trying to do, but you can clearly see that Zack is using the blade. It would have made sense for them to explain it away as Cloud never actually having seen Zack fight since he got the Buster Sword. (Which I think is true...the only time where he might have by that point is Junon)

This.

When I saw that line, all I could think was "... but you were just using it normally. And there, again, straight afterwards, using the blade."

Gameplay does not equal Story (Gameplay=/=Story)
Think about it, if gameplay did equal story then Tifa should be considered the strongest person in the game for being able to left Emerald Weapon clear over head. O_o

That's a totally different case though. If Zack uses the blunt side of the sword, it should be depicted as such. Otherwise, it just creates confusion.

When I saw that line, all I could think was "... but you were just using it normally. And there, again, straight afterwards, using the blade.

...because that's what I thought as well.

If they do anything, they will just leave the Blade facing up and not down like Zack, which at the end, did depict that.

It might not be in the works, but it'll come someday. Extend out the prospect of time enough, and its inevitable. Maybe it'll be after remakes of V and VI, but they will do it at some point.

But I don't really one it unless its on a much larger scale than the previous remakes. I even want FFVI on a larger scale than DS, but we'll see

I'm pretty sure they already have concepts and plans drawn up for what they want to do with the remake by now. It'd be kinda dumb not to at this point.

I am certain they're not into production and development yet though.

The certainty of everyone saying they're not in production only makes me think they've secretly been in production the whole time. Maybe they'll release it for the 15th anniversary. :monster:

Bleh, the whole "secretly in production" thing that people often like to bring up is garbage.
They can't produce a game this massive when they have two other massive games in production for PS3.
A FFVII would require their full attention, unlike for example ACC, which they made whenever they had some spare time in-between their FFXIII working schedules.

Yes, BUT couldn't they start it after the XIII titles are finished, which should be relatively soon and just simply mark it as "works in progress" without being specific?

Yeah, they could just announce it or something, if they're actually ever gonna do it, that is.

I never believed in "secret productions" With a production as big as a FFVII remake, it would be hard not to keep it a secret. A leak would appear sooner or later.

That's true. But I think it would be a more mind blowing moment for fans if all of a sudden, out popped this remake that we heard nothing but rumours about for years. While knowing about it before hand would be exciting, I don't think it would hold as much profit for SE to just randomly throw it out there a week before release.

"oyah remember that thing you wanted us to do? well here it is."

Knowing about it would keep everyone on edge, and create massive amounts of disappointments regarding release dates and delays.

If they could/would bring in the old crew and do it already, it would be a great product. But of course I am a FFVII fanatic. I have no say so because I am not a business man...sleeping in your bed, ow, who you gonna call?
