Then it's emulators at the ready!

(I'll be using the Japanese PSN one on a PS3 though. Because that's what cool kids do with their time.)

Scanned a few pages. Stuff gets fuzzy towards the spine of the book because you can't get the entire page pressed down on the scanner. =/

I've found that if you have a camera with a "Text" setting, you can take photos and get even more readable results than with a scanner. Another plus side is that you won't have to stretch the book's spine quite as much. The only tough part can be keeping the book open and taking photographs, without having to show your hand or whatever else is keeping the book from closing.

When I used a camera, I would place something lying horizontally across the book (remote control or something) to keep it open. Obviously, that's probably going to obscure some of the page and would necessitate taking two pictures if text was covered before.

I've tried scanning books by putting something heavy (massive Spanish dictionary I keep near my scanner) onto the spine to push it down to the scanner, but it still doesn't always seem to work. The only sure-fire way to get a good scan would be to unbind the book (cut the pages out, melt the glue, whatever).

I could upload the first couple of scans soon if you'd like. Where would be the best place for that?

There are a few artworks on the first couple of pages. I scanned some but then skipped the rest in favor of the stuff that's actually translatable :P

It goes without saying that you should feel no rush to do this, so don't the impression of everyone tapping their foot 'n stuff!

I just think there should be an organized way of scanning and logging this beast.

I'm open to suggestions. :wackymonster:

Make a separate topic for this, first of all. This is past the 'idea' stage and well into the 'Active Project' stage, especially since we invested money for the materials. Make the topic 'Saga Frontier 2 Perfect Works Scanning/Translating Progress Thread'. Continue scanning the book, and every so often update the front page with your progress and how much you got done on a regular basis (as you are able to do it of course)

After that is finished, we begin translating in earnest. Before the scanning is finished, everyone who is going to help translate needs to organize themselves and be ready to go as soon as its done.

How much of the book do you have translated?

How long is each section?
