Video Essays on film and gaming

They've done that exact same thing in Glasgow which is absolutely nutty to me. Like they literally took over the middle of our city and dressed it up like Philadelphia. It was really weird to see all that yellow american crap (traffic lights, taxis etc) instead of ours. Also all the road signs were changed for the movie. Really bizarre. I can't believe it was cheaper to fly over here and take over the city rather than do it somewhere in America XD.

My favourite gay bar is through this archway:

The whole thing was just really weird. Also they filmed the green-screen stuff in an abandoned Kwik-Save very close to where I live outside of the centre of the city. I saw Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie just casually wandering around in the area where I grew up.

Specifically, this one:

And for the record I have yet to see Glasgow in a movie that wasn't about Glaswegian gangsters, and those are usually not filmed here XD.

What movie was that, then?

Also I'm sure people are much more inclined to baww and sue the movie companies over taking over Philadelphia, :monster:. Although I did gather there's like 250 movies being recorded in the streets of NY every year. That was from a commercial of a travel agency though, so may be wrong.

^wow, I didn't think any Kwik Saves.....or in this case the dessicated husk of a Kwik Save - existed any more, round here they all got turned into Somerfields, and then Somerfields got turned into Cooperative.

I miss Kwik Save....it was so..shit.

I think it might have been World War Z.

It was World War Z, I meant to put that in the post. Jolie wasn't in it but the whole family was on set most days apparently.

Also, this one goes full spoilers, but this is exactly all the reasons that I love the shit out of John Wick.

That was fucking fantastic. I loved his focus at the end on accessibility concerns, not only because I work doing accessibility-related stuff with software now, but especially because for the first time in AGES, I ran into a simulation sickness issue with a game I wanted to play.

The Witness has motion blur and a restricted Field of View so I could only play the game for a max of like… 45 mins before I felt like I was gonna die. After hitting up the internet about it, it turns out most of the people affected also almost NEVER get that issue in other games, but it was the combination of the two. PC users could fix it by expanding FoV, but I kinda just got stuck with it.

I know that feel all to well. I haven't played The Witness but I do know if I play basically any Valve/Source game on default FoV I'm going to feel awful for the rest of the day.

I remember when I played HL2 on the orange box on PS3 back in the day it was the first time I really noticed it. I legitimately never finished HL2 on console because of it lol.
