I didn't see anything in the rules (that I barely read) about it, so I thought I'd ask here whether or not it was considered undesirable or blatantly against the rules, before proceeding to make an ass out of myself.

@subject, we'd certainly allow advertising of people's own sites and such. I've asked about the play-asia stuff, something which I personally disagree with, but the People said we should allow that or something - can't remember, . But I'd not allow links to people's Ebay auctions (for example), links to product sites, or other commercial activities. Fansites, social networks, personal sites / blogs and whatnot is fine though.

If that's considered acceptable behavior by the staff, you can all just say "good-bye" to me. If I get permabanned, I can't read the translations, & I will not risk losing a resource that was hard to come by in the first place, but I don't compromise.

Confrontational though this might seem, this all feels eerily similar to another place, where I once got a warning for using sarcasm. Uh-uh. Not making that mistake again. I won't commit to a forum I don't feel comfortable at.

I also hope this post is okay. I'm assuming that since it's okay to disclose details about WHY I was banned to the public, it's okay for me to give my POV so long as I'm doing it in a non-inflamatory manner. But, what the Hell do I know?

I'm a douchebag. I'll admit that. I got a bit too pissy with him for ignoring my reasoning.

However, I note that you're doing the same. The singular, important accusation is that I was harassing him.

I'm sorry, but responding when given a response is not harassment. If he had ceased replying, but I kept on pestering him, THAT would have been harassment.

If the forum is in disagreement with me on this, that's a damn shame, but I've put up with mod-assisted ego trips on other forums before, & I will not add this one to my list.

While you're at it, why don't you explain to me the logic behind the initial violation?

When a staff member repeatedly declares the matter closed and tells you to stop contacting him about it, and you continue to challenge his word, I consider that harrassment.

Furthermore, Ryu was reprimanded about the nature of his comments within the staff forum.

So maybe the next time before you go on a paranoid rant about how all staff members are biased cunts with a vendetta against members, you should get the full story so you avoid sticking your foot in your mouth.

Maybe you should follow your advice, The Man? Dacon repeatedly neglected to tell me that Ryu was reprimanded. If he had told me, I would have backed off.

So, here's how it's looking now: You've disproven my initial accusation that the flaming warning was unbiased. I will give you that.

However, you've effectively proven that he WAS ignoring my arguments.

Additionally, there's this dispute on whether or not it's okay to just go, "Fuck you, stop talking to me." We had both decided at one point that the conversation was fruitless. He then sent me a facepalm macro. This continued until he issued the ultimatum.

The difference? I don't have mod powers.

This "he declared the issue closed & you were just bugging him" spin is interesting, since he certainly didn't act like he was closing the matter professionally. I have the whole conversation quoted, if you'd like to see it--complete with the nice facepalm macro he sent me.

Optimus: Noted. However, I did not find the post particularly offensive at all. It was simply that, after the fact, I could not fathom how my remark had been seen as "flaming" compared to it.

Dacon didn't need to tell you that Ryu was reprimanded. While he perhaps should have, since it would've quieted your primary complaint with the matter, how we conduct mod matters really isn't any of the members' business.

And I've already read the entire exchange of PMs, and I'm confident that I've interpreted it accurately. You can feel free to think that it was "closed" when Dacon sent the facepalm macro, but Dacon obviously didn't. Furthermore, Dacon told you twice to stop PMing him before he banned you, and had made it quite clear that he wasn't going to budge on the issue in each case.
