What anime do you think deserve a reboot?

'Reboot' seems to be a popular word these days, and we sure have plenty of them. There are also a small number of reboots, as far as I know, when it comes to anime (eg Rebuild of Evangelion, Escaflowne: The Movie etc.). But are there any other anime out there you can think of that REALLY deserve a retelling, new beginnings, and new ideas?

First one that comes off the top my head is Digimon Adventure (the first season)...and in some essence, Adventure 02 (the second season). Second would be Sailor Moon. Third maybe Card Captor Sakura, or better yet, the overlooked anime series, Moldiver.

Reboot deserves one.

Also, there's more than a SMALL number of them.

Dirty Pair, Cutey Honey (At least three of those) Birdy the Mighty, have had reboots, and that's that just popped into my head.

None of the shows you mentioned really need a 'rebooting.'
What they need is more of a DBZ Kai, stripping them of all the useless fluff.

Maybe a Gundam/Zeta Gundam Movie Trilogy, where new footage is intercut with the old shit.

Actually, you know what does need a reboot or at least a massive kick in the pants?
Pokemon. Ash has been 11 for 10 fucking years.

Addendum: And Sailor Moon had a Live Action reboot!
Actually, several anime have gone that route.
And THAT reminds of glass mask. I need to find a subtitle program that actually works and finish resynching that thing.

I second the Dirty Pair. I actually liked Dirty Pair Flash, even though it wasn't as popular as the original.

Wouldn't mind seeing something done with Gunsmith Cats, or Orange Road.

I think the main thing is, and I get tired of saying this all the time, is to maintain the spirit of the original. I really disliked Bubblegum Crisis Tokyo 2040, and not least because I don't like the style of most modern anime, but just that it had lost all the fun of the original and was trying too hard to be cool I thought. Just annoyed me.

The hell. Gunsmith Cats doesn't need a fucking reboot. It just needs a proper anime adaption, chronicling all of the awesome in the manga. Instead of just some throwaway ova that's nowhere near as good.

DBZ just needs a remake with less filler and better animation.

Check out the Adam Warren comics. Also, of the three major chunks of Flash, I only liked the third part. 1 I felt pissed on the original, 2 was just boring, and three was much like what I liked about the original series/ovas/movie/novels.

I'm with Dac. GSC needs an actual series, not a three off and done with nothing to do with the series.

2040 was never sure if it was a reboot or a sequel or what. It was just done stupid from start to finish.
Also, it wasn't unapolagetically stealing from every American movie it could just for shits and giggles.

Well I am not so strict with my definition of 'reboot', so in the case of Gunsmith Cats I was thinking about a retelling - the whole manga in anime form.

Can't be a retelling when they've never told the manga's story in an anime can it?

It just needs an adaptation.

I always liked Robotech when I was a kid for some reason, and Tekkaman could do with another reboot.

Outlaw Star, huh? I'll take that.

They're apparently rebooting Hunter x Hunter, which sits all right with me.

A less kiddy version of Salior Moon. Show the violent character deaths, and don't make up bullshit. Say that they actually died. Add in the lost episodes, and bits they chopped out. Add in the pervy bits. Make it Blu- Ray, and give the girls their original Japanese names. <:

If you watch the original Japanese version of Salior Moon, then watch the English you'll realize what they changed and left out, and how sad the ending of part one actually is. Really sad. >:

Counterpont- they made the pervy bits pervier by accident.
'COUSINS.' Natch.

So many moments to snark this comment with. SO. MANY.

Sailormoon

and Yu Yu hakusho just because

Does it need a Reboot, or just a retranslation? YYH is fairly solid and self contained.

Oh, and technically, new DRR and Baccano would be reinterpretations of the original works (A la FMA and FMA Brotherhood) rather than strict reboots.

Cowboy Bebop. Where ya know
Spike doesn't die and all :monster:

I agree with YYH. No reason needed. Just because it's awesome. :D

I really don't want anything to get another damn reboot. The current generation of entertainment is nothing but recycling old shit from before and repackaging it for quick cash. We'll never get anything good again if we just keep looking backwards and "rebranding it for a new generation of fans."

Unless it was done just flat out badly, why the hell does it need to be done again?

Cowboy Bebop is a perfect example of something just needing to be left alone. It's fucking perfect as it is now. What the hell needs to be done?
Spike dying
was what made its ending so epic and badass in the first place. A remake where
he lives
or some shit would literally murder the artistic integrity that made it so iconic. Fuck that noise.

This isn't the first generation that this has been happening to. Recycling old shit has been happening in entertainment since before any of us were even born.

K, chill. It was just my opinion. I love Cowboy Bebop and an alternative ending would be pretty cool to see. Plus, anime these days is garbage and great hits like CB tend to get overlooked and dismissed because it isn't 'new'. What's so bad about a newer generation falling for an anime that an older generation grew up with? I don't see anything wrong with it, but I'm not gonna argue. :T

Yeah I don't thing Cowboy Bebop needs rebooting at all. It's perfect and the story for the finale was kinda sad, just the way I like it!

2011 has had the highest number of sequels and reboots in film and entertainment. That's not including shit from across the pacific either. There is a serious dearth of creativity in the entertainment industry. Call me crazy, but feeding just seems like a bad idea.

....And why not just show them the original Cowboy Bebop and make them appreciate it for what it is? Are people incapable of watching shit that isn't the latest most cutting edge material that ever came out? C'mon.

One thing I do agree on is the current anime industry is fucking crap right now. If it isn't loli, moe, or borderline porn, it isn't worth selling apparently.

No. If you seriously believe this nonsense you need to check out more indie games and films. There's plenty of original manga and comics out there too, but people like always make a B-Line for popular media.

Bebop is perfect. Animation is awesome, voice work is top-notch, story is flawless. It doesn't have miles of filler to cut out, nor does it need anything new added in. It needs nothing done to it at all aside from being spread to those who have yet to experience the awesome.

I should've clarified I'm only referring to mainstream entertainment since they're the ones shoveling the most money into all this crap. And like it or not that's who we see most. Thankfully creativity isn't completely dead.
