Dawnbreaker

~The Other Side of Fear~
Light will lead the way, will set you free
As I'm only looking for a little peace
And when the night falls, oh, call on me
Just don't forget to show me some mercy

Ooh, say you're mine
Ooh, take me higher

Shine a light on
Shine a light on me
(Woah) Shine a light on
Shine a light on me
'Cause I was lost at sea
While the waves were dragging me underneath
(Woah) Shine a light on
Shine a light on me

Searching for some grace
I'll tell you now
If I could hear your voice
How sweet the sound

Ooh, say you're mine
Ooh, take me higher

Shine a light on
Shine a light on me
(Woah) Shine a light on
Shine a light on me
'Cause I was lost at sea
While the waves were dragging me underneath
(Woah) Shine a light on

Shine a light on me
Woah, shine a light on
Shine a light on me
Woah, shine a light on
Shine a light on me
'Cause I was lost at sea
While the waves were dragging me underneath
(Woah) Shine a light on
Shine a light on me

Hey, girl, open the walls, play with your dolls
We'll be a perfect family
When you walk away is when we really play
You don't hear me when I say
"Mom, please wake up
Dad's with a slut, and your son is smoking cannabis"

No one ever listens, this wallpaper glistens
Don't let them see what goes down in the kitchen

Places, places, get in your places
Throw on your dress and put on your doll faces
Everyone thinks that we're perfect
Please don't let them look through the curtains

Picture, picture, smile for the picture
Pose with your brother, won't you be a good sister?
Everyone thinks that we're perfect
Please don't let them look through the curtains

D-O-L-L-H-O-U-S-E
I see things that nobody else sees
(D-O-L-L-H-O-U-S-E
I see things that nobody else sees)

Hey, girl, look at my mom, she's got it going on
Ha, you're blinded by her jewelry
When you turn your back she pulls out a flask
And forgets his infidelity
Uh-oh, she's coming to the attic, plastic
Go back to being plastic

No one ever listens, this wallpaper glistens
One day they'll see what goes down in the kitchen

Places, places, get in your places
Throw on your dress and put on your doll faces
Everyone thinks that we're perfect
Please don't let them look through the curtains

Picture, picture, smile for the picture

Hey, girl (hey, girl, hey, girl, hey, girl, hey, girl, hey, girl, hey, girl, hey, girl...)
Hey, girl, open your walls, play with your dolls
We'll be a perfect family

I just get this nagging feeling that there's a Zennial behind me going "OK boomer"
I mean I was born in '81 but you know how recalcitrant teenagers are
As a cynical Doomer, I sympathise. Still, on music and George Harrison; I remember this was rereleased with a new music video:

I actually think if this song came out today, it would fit right in to the current trends, it almost sounds like it could be a Tame Impala song and the video went really well. It was ahead of it's time, or else influenced a lot of current music like Mac Demarco or Mikail Cronin.

That is... until... I realise... even this video... was released... 7... years ago...

And the creeping sense of dread returns...

Who am I? What is life?
