What happened after Genesis took Weiss?

Seriously, its the only thing that has yet to be answered. I hope when they finish this debacle with XIII, we can wrap up an actual proper story as to what Genesis and Weiss will do from here. The closing with Vincent is okay, but what of the rest of the gang? I wish to see something close the world of VII nice and proper than DoC, as usual, they left lots of shit hanging and it is best addressed.

1 year later - Denzel has a meeting with Reeve and asks to join the WRO army, but his request is turned down.
497 years later - Nanaki and his cubs look over the ruins of Midgar.


So far, that is all we know. Maybe they went away to eat all the ice cream in the world...or something like that.

Genesis rediscovered his first passion and became a fruit farmer, while Weiss gained fame as a maker of jams and cordials. People travelled hundreds of miles to visit their farm shop. Thus they became happy and productive members of society, and they never bothered anyone again.

Seriously, this would be the happiest ending.

Personally I think it'd star the kids of AC as teens, with the original cast dropping in and out, like After Years..but that's just my speculation.

Yeah id have to agree with Kiigen on this, if they ever do 1 more FF7 based game which advances the plot then am guessing this will be it.

Everything answered (hopefully) and hopefully a good closing end to the games (aka cloud dies and passes on the sword to Denzel maybe? but then that would leave open room for more games...damn).

I agree that they probably left that cliffhangerish ending so that they can continue the story. There's also Sephiroth promising to "never be a memory" so I feel like he had something else up his sleeve. There needs to be something epic that closes the whole franchise&#8212; with the characters we have gotten to know as the main cast, not new characters that we don't care about. I'm personally still holding out a pointlessly optimistic hope for a full length JRPG.

Aerith is dead and Cloud and Tifa are living together, raising a family together. What more of an answer do you want?

I, too, hold out naive hope for a full-on RPG with the FF7 cast together again. I still think Sephiroth was just saying he'll always be more than a memory to Cloud. They could obviously work with it, but I would prefer that they didn't.

I know a lot of people here despise Genesis, but we've had good brainstorming sessions on the board before bouncing ideas around about a power struggle between the WRO, Rufus, and Genesis and the least with Avalanche caught in the middle (or maybe having conflicting opinions about it.) And I think it could (in theory) be well-handled.
I also think something epic, but not necessarily world-threatening would be welcome, too. If the world almost ends for like the fourth time in twice as many years, everyone on the Planet is just gonna up and kill themselves so as to not deal with it. Make it an epic personal story involving all our favorite characters. And something that indeed involves the future of the Planet, but not necessarily it's umpteenth salvation.

I dunno, I'd be okay with a world-threatening situation if it's the last one. And Genesis bores me, but I'd be more interested in seeing conflicts resolved with the protagonists (and how they have changed and matured and become slightly different than they were in FF7) than I am concerned with the antagonist. I'm willing to tolerate Genesis as an excuse if it means, say:

- seeing Cloud less angsty and more open with his feelings
- seeing Yuffie more grown up and less annoying
- seeing Reeve not be Cait Sith
- hearing the Captain make a wedding/pregnancy announcement
- Shelke as a playable protagonist? not my favorite either but I could buy it.
- obviously I want Lucrecia to get her act together and hang out with Vincent but let's be real.
