What if it had been live action?

What if FFVII or any compilation title was live-action? Who would play each character? I know it'll never happen, and shouldn't, but when I started to think of names I thought it'd be fun.

First off, Steve Burton kinda looks like Cloud. The only probably would be that Burton's pretty buff. He'd have to shave off a few pounds of muscle. He'd still have muscle, but he'd need to be more svelt.

They could probably keep Rachel Leigh Cook as Tifa. There aren't any 20 year old actors who can do the part of and have ginormous boobs. Cook may not fill in the boobs part, but she was probably my favorite (next to Reno and SHM) actor in AC.

There's the obvious Mr. T as Barret.

Have no clue for Vincent or Sephiroth.

Aerith would be one of those next gen of stars like Emmy Rossum. Not saying she should get it, but I'm saying that breed of actress.

Just saw Watchmen so first thing that came to mind was the dude who played Rorschach for Cid. But maybe he should get someone who portrays more power. The actor was rather lanky, and everything he said was depressing.

Yuffie... Ah... No Idea.

I guess Red XIII and Cait Sith would be VA anyway, right?

I refuse to reply to this thread in seriousness. I've heard everyone copypasta 'LOL STEVE BURTON AS CLORD' over and over and over again, who looks far too manly to be a good Cloud. Cook doesn't look the part either, too girly / frail.

Mr. T is a given, although I've seen another blacker that could do the same, .

Does Rorschach have a face in Watchmen?

But yeah, old thread is old. In fact, I recollect a similar thread existing already.

Yeah, Steve Burton is way too manly. Even if he lost all his muscle mass, he just wouldn't be feminine enough to be Cloud, IMO

I also don't like Cook as Tifa, for reasons stated. Tifa is a hardy character. Cook just doesn't fit that (so, Burton isn't feminine enough to play Cloud, Cook not "manly" enough to play Tifa ;D).

Rorschach is seen without his mask; you can see it if you go to Rotten Tomatoes and search around the front page for a Watchmen trivia link. A picture during the quiz shows him without the mask. Or just watch the movie, though I haven't yet...Him as Cid, I just don't know. I'm undecided, though I'm leaning towards no.

I have a difficult time choosing someone to play a live-action video game character. With books, there isn't a set-in-stone look for them, and comics (of all cultures) have a style that usually isn't realistic enough to create a set-in-stone real human image. But video games that use CGI like FFVII have very realistic-looking characters. There isn't much wiggle room before the character looks very different from the CGI image (not counting freckles, moles, zits, etc that CGI characters almost never have). It's very different from making a live-action Harvest Moon.

I remember these threads way back in '98 on the AOL FF7 message board. The only ones I remember casting then were Leonardo DiCaprio as Rufus and David Boreanaz as Vincent. Unfortunately, both actors are getting a bit too old for those respective characters now. But kindly picture their 1998 looks for those roles:

Ironically, I always casted Rachael Leigh Cook as Yuffie then. Before she was in any movies I saw her in an episode of some SciFi show and she had a spunky short black haircut. So I took note of her name and insisted that she was Yuffie. Imagine my amusement when she not only became vaguely well known but also casted as Tifa in AC.
