What next in the FF7 story line?

Hey guys just wondering if any of you here know what is planned for the FF7 serius now? if anything?

Feel free to post fan ideas, ur own personal ideas for games (PC mods) too, am always keen to see others ideas for this.

The last thing to happen in FFVII was a PC re-release of the original. TBH I don't expect them to do anything new. If anything, it'll be more ports of Compilation titles. I'm sure nobody would mind a 'HD' re-release of Crisis Core, which was probably the best game in the whole compilation. It, and/or its concept would definitely work on PC or the new generation of consoles.

And yeah i got the PC port yesterday, its what lead me here lol. and as someone who has never played Crisis Core (the shame!) i PC version would be grand! (or any re-release of the games on next gen consouls-

Compilation began solely as a way to prove that FF could exist in other media. With the ex exception of film (sorry, Advent Children didn't save Square Pictures) theyve proven that they can handle other avenues.

Though in retrospect their mobile games have been severely lacking (FF ATB comes to mind) and they crashed and burned with the original FF14 sales wise so maybe they haven't proven that.

Either way, I think even hardcore fan-base is tired of watching the original greatest being watered down by step-headed red childs like Before Crisis and Dirge of Cerberus (though, to be fair DoC was pretty cool and as Cthulhu pointed out Crisis Core was definitely the second best in the compilation.)

While I have a deep, personal hatred of DoC like it insulted my mother or something, I actually enjoyed CC. There's definitely a pick-up portable and play a mission on the bus to work vibe with the extra content that makes it ideal of the psp, but the rest of it would make a nice port.

Ideally, they would update a few things, like change a few of the backgrounds (playing dozens of missions with only two or three backdrops is boring), and maybe an extra story thing where they focus on Cloud and Zack like they were going to in the first place would be nice. Won't happen but it would be nice.

I've never played the game so I can't speak to that (although I hear the gameplay is mediocre at best). The reason I don't care for DoC and exclude it from my personal canon is because the basic premise of the story is such nonsense that it makes a mockery of the rest of the canon. I already explained the reasons why in some depth here:

I also can't get past Lucretia's feebleness of character, nor Shalua's ludicrous costume.

Nothing is officially planned for FFVII. But Nomura published "The Kids Are Alright" so subtly that people almost missed it, so who knows he might end up publishing another FFVII novel one of these days. *shrugs*

I sincerely hope he doesn't though. A new novel would more than likely mean the introduction of completely new, irrelevant characters. I reckon it's his scenario writing job that makes him accustomed to making new characters and scenarios, so that in turn carries over to his newer FFVII writings (unfortunately).

Oh and he'll probably end up resurrecting somebody, if he publishes another FFVII book.

As much as I love and treasure Final Fantasy VII I don't want anything new, we've had cellphone games, zack anime, zack game, vincent game, movie, directors cut version of that movie and maybe some things that I've missed, but I think it would be better to give another Final Fantasy a chance to shine.

Yeah, I know I'm in the minority anymore, but I still would like for them to have wrapped up everything with one final, full-on RPG to handle the new stuff introduced, deal with that DoC ending. Have the entire party together for one last hurrah, have NORMAL Cloud in command to shut up all the constant emo accusations, etc.

But I know no one else does, and I know it's not going to happen, and I can live with that. Just saying if I had druthers...

I agree with you. It seems to be narrative irresponsibility to start something and not finish it.

Am with you on this too, matter of fact those are the reasons id like to see another game lol. Also i would LOVE to see FF7 in todays graphics (Game wise not film wise, i have seen AC and all but a film is a film, a game on the other had!).

Also i enjoyed DoC but at the same time didnt, the whole Deepground thing bugged me why are deepground not in any of the games before then? also u would have thought with what happend in FF7 and all with the weapons and sep they would have sent Deepground out to combat them, not kept them in the shadows.

(As always these are just my opionons on matters lol)
