The music and the colors used. Chrono Cross is about the prettiest game that came out for the PS1. Its gorgeous to look at as well as to listen to.

I'm throwing in another vote for Chrono Cross. Not that I've played either of the others, but for the reasons Dacon and Devil mentioned I'd recommend everyone play it anyway. It's not a great sequel to Chrono Trigger, but it's a pretty great game in its own right, although the plot kind of falls apart on the second disc. It feels like they ran out of time to make the game and had to throw in a lot of plot details in a manner that didn't really make for the best emotional impact.

Anyways I ended up getting FFVII, but the emulator didn't work for some reason. So that gives me time to download another which I think is gonna be Parasite Eve, game looks really reminiscent of Resident Evil style gameplay so I'm sure I'll like it.

Hopefully that works though because I don't really want to get into the technical side of settings and all that. ;((

OKAY BUT SERIOUSLY you don't have to show me how to get an emulator running. I've done the menu fixes and black screen on startup shit for IX and VII, it's just a matter of me being too lazy to look it up again. But if you feel so inclined then go for it, it's not that important but if it's going to be served on a platter to me I'll take it. ^____^

So, FFVIII wasn't really my cup of tea, although I had some fun playing it.

PE2 is quite different from the original, which I personally found to be a little offputting, but the more RE-style gameplay may be a positive thing for you. I've been meaning to go back and give this game another chance, especially since I absolutely LOVE the first game.

Chrono Cross gets my vote completely. Despite the confusion, it IS a sequel to Chrono Trigger, although the connection is pretty vague. The connection between the two was made more clear if you've beaten the DS version of the game with the new final dungeon. Either way, this game easily stands up as the one to play of the three listed for a large number of reasons.
