Some thoughts regarding Chadley!

There comes a time where certain tropes become a sort of in-joke within a medium. Chadley is that character. The type of character Chadley evokes has been iconized most prominently by Resident Evil 4's mysterious Merchant. Chadley speaks to a similar sense of humour. Whereas we never learn of any back story of The Merchant (it's part of his mystique, after all) Chadley's origin story is thoroughly explained. His stunted manner of speech, his dumb name, and his stupid face all build up to a pretty hilarious punchline that evokes a similar sense of delight to when you find out, with the merchant, that you can fucking shoot this guy in the face. FF7R takes a more positive approach, making you the one who

frees him from the shackles of the role has been made for.

Chadley is the meta-commentary of the Whispers handled in measured catharsis. He somehow manages to be jarring and annoying; yet fits in enough with the setting that it expresses the intended message in a way that is welcomely earnest. He is over the top campy, but still acts as unintrusive contributor to the overall plot.

He's... a good kid. If he were a relative of mine, I'd feel inclined to ever to him the way Kent Mansley does Hogarth in that The Iron Giant.

Also Resident Evil 4 is my favourite game. Also I'm drunk so who knows how seriously I will even take this in the despair of my own hangover

The Merchant comparison is quite apt, and they're one of my favorite Resident Evil NPCs too
