Is it? I never expected it to have DVD or BD playback capability.

Well, I actually don't own a proper DVD/BluRay device aside from my PlayStation, and I'd have assumed that it was going to be something that they'd be interested in including for the people just getting Nintendo systems. Then again, I can see there not being a need for the versatility, I guess I'm just used to it.

I sort of think that it's kinda useful for older televisions where there's only one or two video channels/sockets and so you can double your 360 or PS3 as a movie player as well. It's also sort of wierd that the Wii uses a DVD-size format but can't actually play DVDs.

You'd think that especially with their newer generation, they might sort of put in the tiny bit of effort to do so.

I guess they'd do that to cut the costs, not so much in development, but in license fees they'd have to pay. They still have to pay some for having the drive I guess, but I'm sure there's more they'd have to pay if they wanted to have it play videos too.

seems redudant to me. Holding a screen down and having to look away from your main play seems kind of counterproductive in a shooter where your eyes need to be glued to the screen.

Flicking things from your touchscreen to the main screen = stupid. Just use the same damn screen to do it. Unnecessary.

I think, though, it certainly would make for a cleaner interface. Especially in the context of Ghost Recon, where their "cross-com" game mechanics emphasise being able to do many things at the same time while keeping an eye on the things going on around you, and uncluttering any extemporaneous interface would help that quite a bit.

Essentially, it had potential in the same way the NDS does. Nothing special, but something to keep in mind.

I guess Nintendo really didn't have much to show at E3 then, did they? =/
