Worst Movie You've Ever Seen

Because I need to get this off my chest and isn't this a fun thread idea?

I've been on a mini-movie binge the past few days and was like "I fancy a psychological thriller" two nights ago. I look up lists. I see what one is accessible on Netflix.

I end up watching the worst movie I've ever seen in my life. It's called ATM. It has the fat kid (no longer fat) from Nickelodeon in it (drake and josh, whatever the fat one's called).

Plot synopsis: three randomers from the same accounting firm attempt to go home on new year's eve and get stuck in one of those "swipe to get in" ATM buildings that happens to be in the middle of a parking lot. I called the ending 10 minutes in and literally said to my friend "if X happens at the end I'll be pissed off" but that didn't matter, because I was pissed off before I even got to the end.

Like, it wasn't even laughable. You can get enjoyment out of bad movies by laughing at them. This is not that.

Featuring:

- we can't leave because there's a killer standing outside even though there's 3 of us and one of him and the door isn't actually locked"

- extreme boredom

- the worst editing I've ever seen

- the worst acting I've ever seen

I can't even. Has anyone else ever had the misfortune to watch this? Jesus.

I think I can toss in every single "Theres a stranger(s) in my house" movie ever into my worst movie ever category.

Their all exactly the same and horribly boring. Extra points to the Purge , because while absurd it's basic concept at least for a movie could have been decent. Then they went with that shitty strangers in the house as a wrapper for the movie instead of just rolling with the absurd concept completely.

I gotta go with Highlander The Source. Not only is it a horribly written, acted, and directed piece of garbage, but it is a massive betrayal of the entire concept of the first movie, and every one of the things that made it iconic. This movie couldn't have taken a bigger shit on Highlander fans if it had taken all the laxatives in the world.

The thing that really makes it infuriating though, is that the underlying concept could actually have been a really good movie. A group of immortals, who have spent centuries cutting heads off to survive, decide they want answers and go in search of the source of their immortality so they can finally know why this is all happening.

Thats an interesting idea, but the execution is so utterly terrible that it doesn't matter. What a shitty movie.

Weird Japanese artsy/surrealist movie called Izo.

Watching that movie was physically and mentally exhausting. I can't even remember what it was about, I just remember it was an incoherent collection of weirdness and violence that went on seemingly for days. Completely agonizing experience.

I have a list of the worst movies I've ever seen.

The top of the list is Number 1: Anything to do with that studio I cannot even say or put in full sentence...W....B(Ugh, even putting the two letters together is horrible for me).

Not to mention how it crossovered with Disney(so I prefer Disney being crossovered with franchises like Ice Age-the only franchise I like from 20th Century Fox and Blueskies-even though that'll never happen, Dreamworks-the upcoming BFG is both Disney and Dreamworks-Sailor Moon, Pokemon, Cardcaptors and Square Enix) to make Who Framed Roger Rabbit. Ugh, that film was one of the worst films I've ever seen.

Don't get me wrong, Disney made some terrible films too.

Number two on the list, is High School Musical. Terrible storyline, terrible acting, and the singing was crap too.

Number three, Mrs. Doubtfire. Didn't like that film either.

Oh yeah, and recently, another worst film I've ever seen was the School of Rock. I can't stand that film, and worse part is, on my vacation last year in November, as I kept missing it, just when I finally had the chance to watch the Avengers: Age of Ultron completely, they cut the film off and replaced it with the School of Rock which kept on being repeated on the same channel through the rest of the trip.

I was not happy. The only thing decent I ended up watching was Kung Fu Panda 2 and Monkey Kingdom.

Based on past posts. I would wager she dislikes it due to it taking liberties with some of the characters and not being a panel for panel recreation of the source material.

Transformers 4. It's the only film that's completely and totally drained my ability to write a cohesive series of thoughts about just how godawful it was. Watching it felt like living the scene in A Clockwork Orange.

Just… look up my posts about it and everyone reacting to it. (On mobile, or I'd link them). No other film has ever done that to me, and make me utterly loathe a movie going experience.

Hell, even though it's a terrible, terrible movie, I had more fun watching Dungeon Siege: In the Name of the King (although it becoming essentially life Rifftrax in the theater did help).

I'd ask "What's that supposed to mean?" but I'd rather not risk it.

I just can't stand that studio's animation or characters or storylines, even as a child. I can't stand in hearing about them, talking about them, reading about them or even just looking at them. But that's just me and I'm happy in being that.

I can't focus on anything if I'm even near them.

That's why I pretend that studio and it's creations don't exist or some of the music are from other studios. Call me stupid, but I avoid that studio like a plague.

In truth, I've always been an action but not too violent, fantasy, comedy, somewhat happy, good ending, somewhat answering and friendship kind of fan, and well, my list of my favorites that you guys know of are the proof of that, and I like the continuing adventures of my favorite characters in each franchises as well until I'm sastified enough for their adventures to come to a close.

I'm extremtely picky that way. *Shrugs sheepishly*

Only thing that comes to mind right now is the Eragon movie. Not 'worst movie ever', but as far as a movie adaption from a book, it really sucked. I mean.... I could make a list of all the things I disliked (The acting, the instant-dragon-growth-sequence, the movie leaving out the entire race of the dwarves that play an important part in the books series and replacing them with humans...:wacky: just to name a few). It was a huge disappointment for me to watch years ago, because I really enjoyed the book series.

They never made sequel movies to it either, so it was a definite flop. :closedmonster:

Yeah, they do that a lot with movie adaptions of books and/or games-they change things to give them a different feel and different universe kind of thing.

But I agree with you on that note, and I can name other book disappointments made into movies.

1: The Boy In the Striped Pajamas. Not that I liked the book, but the way how they did the movie was definately off course and cringe worthy.

2: Deltora Quest. While not a movie adaption and I know it's an anime adaption and I've read all of the books(which the books belong to my sister who is a Deltora Quest fan and I don't mind it), but it was disappointing on how they changed Lief's hair color from black to blond and Jasmine's hair as well.

3: The Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. That movie adaption of the first game really killed the Prince of Persia franchise, it's no wonder they didn't do sequels to that either.

And while on this conversation, I don't think they'll continue the Chronicles of Narnia franchise into movie adaptions, because the forth film is taking so long and rumor has it that it's gonna be somewhat a reboot from the first three films.

Sorry I didn't try to mean anything negative about it just took a random guess.

I mainly made the presumption from some of your posts in the Jungle Book thread which IIRC came down to you saying you didn't think the movie be good due to it taking many liberties with the source material.

I figured given that Who Framed Roger Rabbit also takes some liberties with its source I thought the reasoning would be similar. My bad.

That's okay.

I'm crazy, and my reason for the Jungle Book thread is different compared to my absolute dislike with Who Framed Roger Rabbit and the *shivers* other studio that I can't even put two single letters and it's content.

Reboots are kinda a bit of a killer in my way. Okay, I know most reboots are based on originals from like, what, 1950's or something, and that was around 50 years ago, so that's kinda understandable.

But reboots after only 20 years or just ten or five years, that's too much. Which is one of the reasons why(and I know I should say this in the FFVII Remade thread) I was so disappointed and angry that Square decided to remake FFVII when the Compilation was still young(by 12 years, because 12 is very young) and still had ideas to continue it rather than just leaving it.

But I can see why you thought it was similiar, because even I have to admit that I've probably done nothing more than complain lately, and I know that I'm getting worse.

I've always been somewhat negative.

I liked Who Framed Roger Rabbit. :sadpanda:

Um...

I once watched this one Japanese horror film that was about a girl who had a katana chainsaw surgically attached to her that she used to fight zombies. It was pretty awful and nothing made sense. :closedmonster:

I can't remember the name of the movie but I found a shot of the main character by searching for "chainsaw katana." :awesomonster:

That reminds me of a nightmare I had as a child years ago that I still vaguely remember about a female robot having a chainsaw on her right arm, slicing up a teenaged girl into pieces like a piece of cooked lamb or roast chicken, with blood spilling all over the place.

I have seen a lot of bad movies in my day. I honestly don't know how to judge them between themselves.

Sure there are easy ones to point at like "Battlefield Earth" or "Batman and Robin". Then there are famous ones like "Plan 9 from Outer Space". And there is shit where people clearly aren't trying like well basically everything Adam Sandler ever made.

However there is one that personally pissed me off. "The American" starring George Clooney. It was just boring. It was a character piece that they forgot to put a character in.

As I think about this topic I will have many post here. After all, how do you compare the worst drama you have ever seen to the worst comedy to the worst horror to worst action to whatever else?

Worst for me are the films that I had high expectations for: A.I. was awful but it could have been good if Kubrick hadn't gone and died. Prometheus - an example of 'lets throw every idea we have in and see what sticks' and Advent Children ofc - And no I dont buy the 'it was only meant to be a short with Cloud and Tifa so it's pretty good considering' logic. It should have stayed a short. It's like saying 'it was only meant to be a small family gathering' when a bunch of Hells Angels gatecrashed into your house.

But then there is some stuff that you know is going to be rubbish and it still manages to disappoint you. Like the Tomb Raider movies. Or anything with Jason Statham.

Honourable mention for films that everyone else seems to like but I hate with the burning passion of 1000 suns: The 300, The Matrix trilogy, Django Unchained. And probably 100's of others that I can't remember right now.

I'm fortunate in that I don't go to the cinema very often unless it's something I really want to see, so I've never had to walk out of a film.

I have a weird relationship with movies tbh. My angle on this thread was more to find movies to rival the terribleness of ATM, rather than go "guys what movies do you really hate that aren't objectively terrible" XD. (Some of the movies mentioned are objectively bad, some not so much).

I mean, I suppose the worst movie you've ever seen is obviously going to be one that you didn't enjoy, but I feel really good about my justified disdain for ATM because it's really really bad. Like I legitimately don't think you could find a person who actually likes it. Whether or not I enjoy a movie is almost always completely independent of its reviews or actual technical superiority. One of my favourite movies has a 20% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Then again, ATM has a 7% rating. It's that bad.

To be honest, I wouldn't say that I've ever seen too many movies that are just completely bad, with the except of the slew of B-movies I was forced a few years ago during a marathon, but I don't really count those.

I've seen movies that are bad, but still good in their own way. Mostly book-to-movie adaptations, i.e. Eragon, The Queen of the Damned, etc., but I could always find something good about it that I really liked.

That was not the case with Bloodrayne

I remember playing the first Bloodrayne when I was younger, and when I was about sixteen, I saw the movie in Walmart, which I didn't even know one had been made.

I had never heard of Uwe Boll either.

It was just horrible. I usually try to find something redeeming about most of the so-called 'bad' movies I watch, but nothing could save that movie for me. The acting was spectacularly bad, the special effects were even worse, and the story was butchered beyond contempt that it didn't resemble the original game in the slightest. I know Bloodrayne was made to basically cater to the fantasies of young boys at the time, but god, Uwe Boll just made it ten times worse. He is such a bad film maker, and a part of me really believes that he must have sold a part of his soul to be allowed to continue making films.

I mean shit, even Nude Nuns with Big Guns was better than the crapfest that was Bloodrayne.

I saw one awhile back on Netflix called Bug. About a messed up army vet and some woman in a hotel room with a bug infestation. It was so bad I couldn't finish it.

Rubber was pretty bad, too, but at least you could laugh at it. Given that it was about a homicidal tire, I don't think it was meant to be taken all that seriously, anyway.

I can't even. Has anyone else ever had the misfortune to watch this? Jesus.

I am 90% certain I have also seen that piece of junk.

It was fucking shit, I think it was meant to be psychological horror.
