That is incorrect. It glows a pale green when it's activated - that's how the party knows that she used it already. If it was always pale green, that waterfall video wouldn't have been a big deal.
The Black Materia - when used - glows a deep purple. That doesn't mean it's not clearly a black materia.

It doesn't start glowing until its underwater. It's just green when it falls out of her hair when she dies. Why wouldn't it be? The materia is pale green. It's never just a pure white orb. It is never shown as that.

In merchandise that shows Aerith with the white materia in her hair, it's always green. From the play arts figure to the static arts of her praying. It's never pure white, dude.

Actually, the Play Arts figure does not have the materia in her hair at all.

However, the point is that the white materia is only called the white materia because it summons the ultimate white magic spell of Holy. The physical materia itself is always green, whether glowing or not.

This is the same with the black materia. It is only called such because of the spell it casts, not because of it's color.

And Aerith kept the materia on her because her mother gave it to her. I don't think she realizes what it does until you get to the temple.

Are you sure? I guess if you've owned her and seen it, you are. But I thought I saw them. But I specifically remember it being green on her static arts statue, and everywhere else.

But yes, it's totally green. Never white.

I'm looking at PA Aerith right now and I don't see any materia. :monster:

I have always wondered why it wasn't included in her sculpt. :/

There was one Aerith figure out there that had the materia in her hair though. I know I've seen it. I wonder if I'm thinking of the Extra Knights figure..?

If memory serves I think I have seen pics of the Extra Knights Aerith with the materia in her hair.

I'd post a pic but pics of the back of her head seem to be non-existent at the moment. But I'm sure it was green.

There's an artefact in Final Fantasy Tactics called the white materia. It too is pale green :monster:

This is the best pic I could find of it

Yeah...I'm pretty sure as well Holy is green even when inactive, though I'm having trouble finding the character models I saw once that showed it green.

Plus, color coordinating doesn't work with normal materia, so there's not much reason to think black materia + white materia = counter-weapons! even if it was usually white. Yellow and Purple materia don't cancel each other out; try to combat an ice spell from a green materia by summoning Shiva from a red materia and you'll just make a freezer. I don't think the FF crew's genre savvy enough to make that deduction in the face of the usual world logic.

Or if you're running that in DoC/CC/AC, the colors have entirely different meanings, it matters even less! :awesomonster:
