Final Fantasy XV (was Versus XIII)

Retail sites hardly are a reliable source of info regarding release dates (I mean, before official announcement from the studio/editor). And they love placeholder dates, besides. All in all, to me it doesn't matter much. I've waiting for this game for years, a few months earlier or later makes...

    Wonderboy Reboot

 Uh. That's not really a reboot, it's more like a straight sequel! It's almost exactly as it was 25 years ago! I played 2 and 3 on Master System, then Wonderboy 5 on Genesis/Megadrive, back then I really enjoyed it because it was halfway between platformer and action-RPG, it was quite...

What makes Final Fantasy VII special to YOU?

Thanks for the video, folks :) Personally I wouldn't mind if some elements are exposed with less ambiguity to avoid the kinds of misunderstandings Starling was mentioning. I really appreciated how the OG was placing all the pieces of the story puzzle for the player to reconstitute the whole...

Hopes for Remake & Rebirth (story/content)

That's actually what has me hopeful that they wouldn't water down much of the contents. If Sephiroths' skewering scenes are rendered somewhat realistically, we could end up with some pretty graphic content, for one thing.

    Remake Interviews: Catch-all Thread

I wholeheartedly agree. I really hope that Kitase/Nomura/Nojima won't let their creative process get affected by the internet noise. Again I very much agree. When I was reflecting on how a remake would be undertaken (before the remake was officially announced), I imagined something very...

    Remake Interviews: Catch-all Thread

The way I understand it, Nomura and Kitase do not want to constrain themselves to the "code of standards" of sandbox/open-world games; they'll do it their own way and then people will be free to call that however they want (which is pretty much the jig of FFs, all in all). That's my...

    Remake Interviews: Catch-all Thread

IMO the actual bad news would be if self-censorship comes in for the purpose of targeting a Teen rating. Then we would really know that a lot of content would be watered-down. The information we have now (thankfully) doesn't hint at that. Let's face it: if the OG were to be re-rated today, I...

Remake - The size and number of parts - A hypothesis

That sounds very far-fetched but it's an interesting idea. Like you said, on the remote chance that it happens, you can pull it out of your sleeve :) IMO, given that they're rebooting the combat system, and given that they've not finalized it, I think what they showed in the most recent trailer...

    Who made the reveal trailer?

I was under the impression that at Square, Yusuke Naora tends to manage CG cinematics, both for in-game and promotional purposes. Given that he was also the art director of the OG (and the compliation of VII), I think that should help the development of visual assets for the remake.

    Final Fantasy XII

Thank you very much, that was a great read :) Besides the localization of FFXII was awesome, IMO. Not sure I've seen a better localization from a Japanese game since.

Editorial: Black Chocobos - The Oddballs of Final Fantasy

Thanks for the article, it was a good read. Your conclusion very much agrees with what I've read from ffworld (it's a small French fan site but the owner managed to get interviews with the folks from Square), which is a sentiment that I share as well. I've always favored innovation and...

    Message from Yoshinori Kitase

Yeah, why try to understand the motivations of the directors when you could scream how much we're all victim of these big evil money-sucking corporations :monster:

    Message from Yoshinori Kitase

Personally I had come to the conclusion that FF7:R should be multi-part long before FF7:R was officially announced. I've come to this conclusion after understanding the magnitude of the scope of a proper remake, where one wouldn't hesitate to expand on the world/story/characters given in the OG...

What games are you currently playing?

Since Nov 10 and still currently playing: Fallout 4. And I'm probably going to be playing that game for the next 4-6 months.

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

I'd be surprise if they do, but eh, why the hell not. After all, they did make a demo of the OG (I think around the end of 1996) which was about the first bombing mission. Then what you suggest would be a demo release for the 20th anniversary of OG demo!

    Requests/Warm-Ups & Postings

I think what I'd like to see is a casual moment among the party members. Like sharing a meal, or have them playing cards, something low-key and relaxed. A bit like the post-credit scene of the first Avengers at the shawarma joint. In a similar idea, I was thinking of a scene with the Avalanche...

    Amiga/Commodore

 Wow I really didn't know that! Yeah, on the Spectrum the games were just on regular cassette tapes. I even had one game where face A was the game, and you could play face B for a rock soundtrack. Years later, when I got my Sega Master System, my mind was blown away by the graphics :awesome:

    Amiga/Commodore

Wow, Amiga, that's an old timer! I didn't have one but a friend of mine did. I got to play Lotus Turbo Challenge :D Also Crazy Cars II and R-Type-II. Personally, my childhood was "blessed" with something even more ancient: Sinclair ZX Spectrum! The thing was working with tapes, you needed...
