AC/CC >> Remake Buster Sword Changes

What I'm wondering is if you could alter the Buster sword during the game, and make upgrades which could also have some visual impacts. As emblematic the Buster sword might be, in the OG it very quickly became unused because it's pretty much a "Lv. 1 weapon", so I'm wondering if that could be a...

Looks like this thread is going to need a fair amount of brain bleach.

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

Well, there's also one place that I'm pretty curious about: Elmyra and Aerith's house. In the OG, that location was illuminated as if it did not belong below the Plate, and it had little in common with the rest of Sector 5. I'm curious as to how they'll give some continuity between this house...

Real World References in Different Universes (Fiction)

I always assumed these were leftovers from the early development of FFVII. Remember that in the very early concept, FFVII was imagined to be set on Earth, and what was thought of New York became Midgar. You can also find some backgrounds which look a lot like some places you'd find in Arizona...

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

Hence the "if" :P To be honest I'm not sure. I made the connection since the immediate surrounding of the playground have a slum-ish look to them (with the smoke, the messy electric cables, etc.). Let's not forget that Sector 6 of the Plate isn't constructed - that could let a lot of daylight...

If this is the same place as this, then I'd say yes.

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

"Where to chop" the story is indeed the big question, and it also depends a lot on how many parts they're going to make. I like your cut-out of the story, if it's indeed based on three parts. It might be a tad unbalanced in terms of content, however. I agree that Sephiroth's shishkabob special...

    FFVIIR Nostalgia mode

Don't worry, I was certainly not among the folks who were bitching about Fallout 4 having a fair amount of color :) On my end I feel like the lighting/rendering presented in FF XV is spot on. Actually I've been a bit puzzled as to why they wouldn't use Luminous for FF7:R. Why did they pick UE4...

    FFVIIR Nostalgia mode

As you suspect, we don't have the same tastes when it comes to that ;) That being said, personally, I believe that part of the more "saturated" look in the OG comes from 2 aspects (regarding the environments, at least): a/many environments were CG renders, old-school lighting and rendering...

Trying to explain the magninitude of this Remake to people who don't get FF

Man, that's awesome! I'm much less subtle, myself. I'm more like "you there, go watch the latest trailer of FF7: R and then you can carry on with your experiment" :P

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

Frankly, until Square decides to be clearer about it, it's anybody's guess. Once again, I think that we could arrange a round of bets with Timbits for the winner (I doubt you'll mind ;) ) Anyone wants to organize a poll about this?

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

If you wish variety, it is still possible to offer it while you're still just in Midgar. The answers to that are, IMO: 1/Implement day-night cycles and weather 2/Allow exploration on the top of the plate 3/Allow exploration in ALL sectors of Midgar 4/Give to each Sector a distinct "flavor" -...

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

I think that making a first episode in "just" Midgar is the way to go, in terms of game structure. In that case you have unity in both "setting/location" and narrative. I believe it is best to think of each installment as a game that can have its own closure. You present Shinra as the main...

Trying to explain the magninitude of this Remake to people who don't get FF

Yup, definitely a great point of working with students :) I work with Masters students myself, and it's quite easy to share the hype!

    FF7 Remake "Multi part series"

If these references are in the form of reports you can get here and there from something like "Dr. Gast's research on the Planet", I'd say why not? That being said, whether they make these references or not is anyone's guess. We could take bets and the winner gets a box of Timbits.

Things most people dont know about FF7

Well, there's more where that came from. If you wish to have some insight into the code of the original game, then from the qhimm community you can find a whole 200+ pages document about it

Things most people dont know about FF7

I could probably attempt a better, longer explanation, but I'm not really sure you'd be all that interested in it :monster: Long story short, it has to do with the way information is structured in computer programming. At least I might have gotten points for how obscure my piece of trivia is...

Things most people dont know about FF7

Sorry, allow me to expand: on computer media, and video games more specifically, information is coded in binary (strings of zeros and ones). Each "0" or "1" is a bit. So each bit can take 2 possible values. A "byte" is a unit of digital information made of eight bits. In other words, it's a...

Things most people dont know about FF7

Actually, it becomes a lot less obscure once you figure that memory is allocated in bytes, and 65536 corresponds to 2^16 Which is also why Vincent can do one-hit kills once you get the corresponding damage variable past that point, because the variable gets an "overflow" value.
