The kid in me that used to religiously watch the 90's cartoon is really happy about the news.

If we get Cable in X-Force &/or Apocalypse, I hope that he's played by Stephen Lang.

In the comics the real star in this arc was Kitty Pride. Wolverine had a role but he wasn't the main focus. I think thats one problem with the movies is the too much focus on Wolverine. Some other characters can be focused on. I mean I really would love to see more stuff done with Storm.

True, but it's a matter of building it into a cinematic continuity that takes the content from the comics, but they very seldom directly copy them. I think that using Wolverine makes a bit more sense, given the way that they developed his character for the films.

Yeah, but it also runs into the ground that Wolverine is a spot light stealer. The X-Men have a whole history of characters are as interesting and fascinating as Wolverine. Oh, here is a little known fact Wolverine was almost killed off for real because at one time he wasn't that popular and was too simliar to another character called Thunderbird who instead died.

One of my favorite Xmen has to be Nightcrawler. I know that they couldn't keep him in the movie series because of the fact the actor couldn't stand putting on all that makeup.

The Wolverine-whoring is by no means unique to the film franchise. While I have never had any problem with Wolverine (and certainly don't have a problem with Hugh Jackman), he has never been my favorite and I've long been fatigued by him constantly being pushed as "the guy."

Hey, remember that XMen carton, X-Men Evolution, on Kids WB. One apsect I loved about this show that the focus was not totally on Wolverine. Although the 90's Xmen comes at a close second because I saw it in reruns.

As someone whose favorite character is Cyclops, I'm very much aware of this issue, and it irks the bajeezus out of me, especially because they basically give up on including his character, and then give him the wrong power in the X-Men Origins Wolverine film to fulfill a stupid plot point. /rant

I like Wolverine myself but too much exposure does sour people on him. I also feel that they should have paired Shadowcat and Colossus together. Although this pairing has had a long history it seems any media outside the comics doesn't acknowledge it at all. Kitty Pride seems to be shipped with characters which would have been crack pairings in the comics. I also wonder why Colossus didn't have a Russian ascent like he did in the comcis as well. He is one the XMen's most well known Russian character.

It seems a lot of the Xmen movies takes more from the Ultimate X-Men comics than the main ones.

Wow.

Who ever worked on those covers is god awful. The models all look like there on a different plane then the background. There on the cover rather then in it ._.

The images were clearly designed to emphasize the characters rather than the backgrounds, so I think they did precisely what they were trying to. =P

Production designer John Mayhre explains their concept for the future Sentinel:

They're biomechanical weapons. We had to come up with what would be the ultimate version that could actually, in principle, stop the X-Men. We started with this idea that they were almost made up of magnetic plates slapped over one another, imagining that the plates could contract or grow, so the Sentinel can be skinny to get through a small space or the plates can open up to become a bigger shape. So they have become virtually unstoppable.
