100gb

After playing this game (and please forgive me if this is a spoiler, but I'm not sure it is), I fail to see where that 100gb went?

It really wasn't a big game. Nowhere near FF15.

Apparently mostly on unique art assets, I believe this was mentioned by Kitase in an interview around the launch period. Kind of a shame the texture loading problems obfuscate it, but hopefully there's a fix for that at some point.

It's kind of a shame that they promised that the game would be huge and we didn't get to see any of the other sectors or most of the upper plate. O was honestly expecting something way bigger.

They came out and said that Midgar wasnt going to be totally explorable, and that they expanded the original areas. Right now the 100gb isnt justified because of the texture issue (which I hope get's fixed after the covid stuff goes down)

Because there are a ton of unique 3D assets for each of the different maps. A lot of the stuff in the scenery has unique geometry. Plus there's a ton of audio in multiple languages.

No offense but this really sounds like something someone with no understanding of game development would say. Whatever is causing the texture LOD issues has little or nothing to do with the game's total size being 80+ gigs.

The HD textures are there, they load sometimes. Hell, if anything, the reason they don't always load might be because the detailed meshes themselves are more than the PS4 can handle.
