An intresting entry to the compilation (imo)

Well I was bored at work the other day with nothing to do. Thinking about FFVII and Crisis Core.

I was thinking an intresting entry imo would be something along the sort of lines of before crisis. But where you play as a member of SOLDIER.

Like maybe when SOLDIER first came to be about. I know Crisis Core was about SOLDIER but we didnt really see alot of whats in it as Zack was a well established member as were the other 1st's. So you start as a new recruit just making the cut.

Showing what goes on with training the SOLDIERS and enfusing them with the Mako/Jenova.



I thought set it back a decade or something, with Sephiroth not at his legandary status yet. Show more of the inner workings of the Shinra co. Like more missions involving protecting Shinra. And maybe leading into the war with Wutai.

I just thought it could be intresting to see a bit of a back story into the actual formation of SOLDIER.

S-E already blew their chance at that. With Crisis Core and Before Crisis, it's time for S-E to move on from that aspect of the FF7 world to something else.

They should have done that in CC proper. It would feel too much like an echo of BC, that way.

Flashbacks or something about it in an OVA maybe, would be better. But Sqex probably won't spend much more time on it...

I think people are now so desperate for any new addition to the Compilation of FFVII that they're willing to think any half-cocked idea makes for a decent entry to the series, just to satisfy their craving for more FFVII.

Granted though, its not your fault. The creators felt the same way when they shat Advent Children out into the world like a hideous unwanted abortion.

Software companies get an idea, console developers bargain with software companies to get them to make games for their consoles, the software companies then decide which games go where.

Of course Sony and S-E struck a deal to put games on the PSP to help it be a console worth buying. If they didn't, then what would be the point in their partnership?

Yeah I was just agreeing that it would of been a better game if it was for the PS2. Personally I think its the only reason alot of people own a PSP, as most of the games are pretty crap for it.

I havnt picked mine up since I completed CC.

Are you talking about me or Alex? I just don't think there should be more added to the Compilation. It'd be like making a prequel to FFX about the summoners sacrificing themselves for Spira. Sure, it'd be interesting, but it's not really necessary to understanding the story of FFX.

Considering the Compilation has left itself hanging on a cliffhanger, it would make absolutely no sense at all to not continue what they started.

Especially considering they've stated they want to explore more of Cloud in his new life and all.

They also made a Case of Barret, Tifa, Red XIII, Yuffie, Shinra, and dead characters, that doesn't mean they'll get a game.

Denzel existed solely for exposition of Cloud's character, as Shelke did for Vincent.

A couple of years ago, S-E had a mock reveal of a new mobile phone game called Era Clash as an April fools. At the time, the ideas were almost exactly the same a what you proposed. SOLDIERs POV showing rise of Sephiroth, Genesis, etc and the beginnings of the Wutai War. Seemed pretty cool actually, but it was not (or ever) to be.

If Kunsel is still going, perhaps he is now high in the ranks of the WRO.

And I would rather see Mukki get his own game before Denzel.

Am I the only one, by the way, who thinks that a new title with Denzel in a primary role is a likelihood -- and also kind of digs the idea?

I can see why there's so much opposition to it, sure. A lot of people don't like the kid. But I think it seems likely to be done, as well as thematically fitting. To me it feels like they've been setting his character up for this all along:

-Cloud is his hero
-He has a heroic moment himself in ACC
-Cloud introduced Denzel to the living legacy idea at the end of ACC

I'm sure that Cloud would still be prominent -- and a playable character -- if they did this, but it just seems like the direction they want to go to me. And, honestly, I like the idea.

Anyone remember Spark in Record of Lodoss? That turned out pretty damn well.

Plus, Parn was still very important even while the focus had shifted.

Well, I'd be happy to let them do it. Just because Genesis woke up, things don't have to turn sour at some point.

He could be humanity's protector for all we know at the moment, and ensure that they never have to fight again as long as he lives.

But that doesn't seem very likely to me. Both because SE's not going to leave it without any further developments, and because I'm expecting him to become a threat to the human population -- probably because he thinks he's doing something good for the planet. But we'll see.
