I'm so tired of him regurgitating fight after fight. I mean, I get it. It's a shounen- it's meant to have lots of fights. But I can't believe any of his assistants or the publisher haven't smacked him on the head and told him to go on with it. He could probably take out half of the chapters in the later arcs and nothing would change.

Kubo Tite has tons of creativity, he doesn't need to spam his own story to try and convince us. :/

Not to mention how he talks about what females he loves in Bleach in interviews and whatnot, it just seems unlikely.

He's lucky he draws super fast. Seriously though, his pace has been picking up a lot since the Ichigo versus Aizen began, so I'm not going to complain - we had information, old characters coming back, teamwork [do you know how much I strived for that lol?]. I still remember some chapters of the HM arc, I could stare at them thinking 'woah, nothing happened, you could have halved that, Kubo, and still make it work!'. Or maybe I'm just optimistic because we're finally reaching the end of the arc? _o/

Anyway, speaking of shounen, anyone has read Zombie Loan? I must say that monthly shounen really are gems compared to weekly ones. I'm fascinated by this one XD

Zombie Loan is okay, and it's definitely been getting more interesting, but I wouldn't necessarily believe it's the best I read. I do agree that monthly mangas are usually better in general, it's just a lot of people tend to get bored between a one month wait. Which is why many of them will struggle if they want a more active fandom than mangas in Shounen Jump.

Also, A Gundam series none of you have watched but should- Gundam X. It's really rather fun, and stars a main character clever enough to know that when NOT to use his superweapon, and ways to use it cleverly.

Zombie Loan is released by Square Enix in a shounen magazine, so yes, it is shounen. I wouldn't call this shoujo either, seriously. I like the mix of fun, with a serious plot and how the characters develop. Really, I'm not asking for more in a shounen XD

I think that says more about how crappy the 'shonen' and 'shojou' genres really are, since they very largely bleed into each other.

Also, Eve No Jikan. A slow tempoed, short, very beautifully animated piece on what it means to be human and human connection in an increasingly disconnected and inhuman world- in this case literally, as Androids are becoming ubiquitous as household service, and must always proclaim themselves to be such, save one particular cafe where the rule is that there is to be no distinction between humans and robots.

Watch it. It's good.

Anyone who thinks Bleach takes itself seriously, aside from being a character driven action series with sexy designs and badass battles, is out of their mind. Its a series about fighting. People will be cut up and that's the focus. It's part of the reason I enjoy Bleach so fucking much. It doesn't put up any airs, at all. It's the Die Hard series for manga. Kickass characters, sexy strong females, wonderful art, and fighting up the ass. The rule of cool is honestly presented to you, and you know what you're getting into. It's all good fun, with action and a healthy dose of drama as well.

I love Naruto, but its melodrama and how serious it takes itself gets old very fast. Especially with how bad it does it, at times. That and its silly plot twists and convoluted conspiracies. I enjoy it, but it gets annoying sometimes, along with its mind numbling stupid fangirls.

It wasn't horrible, it was a bit rough. Kubo was just coming into his own style and refining his character designs. They've evolved quite a bit.

Most manga have a bit of a rough beginning, in terms of the author getting used to starting their series and such. Same was true for Naruto, Dragonball, and One Piece.

For one, you're a harsh critic, Dac. In terms of the shit that's in Weekly Jump, I'm going to go out and say that it's probably the best in terms of its art right now. Don't know why complimenting it as having some of the best art in shonen right now is such a problem. The character designs, and fight depictions are awesomely done.

I have. I specifically stated in reference to what's in Weekly Shonen Jump. Bleach has some of the best artwork in that magazine right now. I never said best of all time or out of all manga. It's all about Ichigo.

But then he'll die and Hollow 3 Ichigo will appear and revive him.

There is no want at all of strong females who can stand toe-to-toe with the guys and prove their worth in battle without needing a man to stand on. It's nothing like Naruto, for example.

A. Hasn't been seen in multiple arcs last I checked
B. Was weak and insignificant last time we saw her.

But neither of them really matters anymore.

The best hope for Bleach females to really be powerful and important in future is Yoruichi and Unohana.
Hopefully we'll actually see Yoruichi's Zanpakuto.

Oh and to get back to the shipping talk, I LOVE Urahara x Yoruichi.

I think the problem Gabranth has, is that the men in the show/manga ALWAYS shine brighter than the women. Sure Yoruichi is badass and pretty powerful, but what has she really done beside train Ichigo and fight her student to a standstill?
