Well I think Cloud's VA is barely famous as he was from a soap. He was okay.

And then there's Raiden as Reno but he hadn't been in much else at that point. Except Bickson, one of the Luca Goers. And Isaaru. But I doubt anyone cared or remembered.

Grunt (ME), Orochimaru (Naruto), Zabuza (Naruto), Oghren (DA: O), Irving (DA: O), ROger Smith (Big O), Mugen (Samurai Camploo), Zegram Ghart (Rouge Galaxy), even Vincent Valentine.

Out of all those, I only know Vincent (from AC).

Rachel Leigh Cook is hardly a nobody, she was in several Hollywood films prior to being cast in this film, and has had numerous roles in daytime TV shows.

She's just a terrible VA.

The guy who did Barret's voice has also been in several anime, including a role as Jett in Cowboy Bebop.

Dude does lots of shit.

Hellsing Ultimate stands out for me when it comes to this guy, although I enjoyed the Japanese version more.


EDIT: And, about the Trigun dub - Bosch does a great effort, but he just honestly doesn't match the balls-to-the-wall, very Japanese wackiness of Vash's voice that Onosaka really brought out.

Mena Suvari is pretty famous as well. I think most people would at least recognize her a jailbait from "American Beauty."

To be honest, the only things I know Steve Blum for are Vincent and Spike. I didn't really like him as Mugen - it seemed like too much of Cowboy Bebop rehash, and the Japanese VA suited the character better imo.

As far as awesome voices go, Kirby Morrow. That guy has got the sexiest voice even though he pretty much does the same thing for every role I've heard him

imo, David Hayter is a great voice actor, at least for the character he does.

My personal favorite voice-actor ever is Paul Dobson. He does Naraku as well as Juggernaut in X-Men Evolution. Actually, Evolution and IY shared a lot of the same VAs.

mo, David Hayter is a great voice actor, at least for the character he does.

He was also Tamahome in the earlier mentioned Fushigi Yuugi.
Really though, every VA in MGS is at least decent and most of the main cast are phenomenal.

Only a philistine would deny the sheer awesomeness that is Son Goku and Dragonball. He is the definitive shonen action hero. Him, Kenshiro, and Joesph Joestar.

I never liked Berserk and Gantz tbh.
I think Tenjho Tenge is a very good (seinen) anime/manga. Beside the main character Souichiro Nagi I found Bunshichi Tawara to be very interesting. He`s the strongest character, despite his distaste for fighting.
And there is Yoichi Hiruma from Eyeshield 21, he`s a real GAR.

I didn't mind Hayter in MGS1, but from that point on he seemed to turn into a characture.

Whereas Ohtsuka is consistantly awesome.

I thought Cygan did a great job myself.

You also gotta give Cam Clarke credit. It takes a lot of effort to play a Fake British guy playing a fake American guy and make it convincing.

Ohtsuka was Solidus as well, but he plays him differently than he does Solid.

But Japanese MGS/Kojima is fond of reusing the same actors (Liquid/Major Zero, Meryl/Olga, Mei Ling/Paramedic, Sigint/Drebin, Rosemary/The Boss/Sunny, among others).

Hayter was really the only one I had any problems with (and maybe occasionally Raiden). I just don't like the English version enough to choose it over the Japanese one

Forgive my rose-tinted glasses, but David Hayter's voice was one I grew up with during my gaming adolescence, so anything he says as Snake, no matter how cheesy, is automatically cool or funny.

Of course, I take Ohtsuka's voice much more seriously, though. Talented guy who sounds so much more than a cheesy B-grade hero.

To be fair to Hayter, MGS is known for its hamminess. Being an over-the-top series, the actors all strive to be over-the-top as well.
