Annoying monsters

Which random battle/mission monster do you find the most irritating/most dislike having to fight? Grand Horn is right up there for me, but top of the list is Gangalan. Apart from anything else, it seems to be just about the only monster roaming the field between Costa and Corel. Oh, the monotony!

Hands down, Ying & Yang in the Shinra Mansion basement. Loooooong battle animations, and annoyingly high defenses. Just painful to fight.

@Shademp: Ying and Yang is a brilliant answer.

Took me long and hard to think of an enemy I hated more than any other and I'm afraid I could not make a decision, but here are my top five hated:

Golden touch frogs rub me up the wrong way. If one more of those fuckers uses frog song on me after I've selected a magic spell, I swear to God...

Nobody of a low exp level or at least one party member wit a Ribbon messes with a Marlboro. It's gaming suicide.

Dorky faces are bastards

Can't remember their name, but those red leaves that you fight in the Ancient Forest. Man, they do my tits right in.

And finally, the one and only Christopher, simply because he is arguably the most randomly named character in FF history. And he's a half fawn - half centaur fuck up

Splintered

Yin and Yang were annoying.

The fights in the Ancient Temple annoyed me. Mostly because, as S and G said, frog song had my team asleep for most of it.

There was an enemy that made me avoid Gongaga for the longest time, if I recall correctly it was a flower that grows every hit and throws a whole bunch of status effects your way. Kyuvilduns+twin brains, the mosquito looking things and the carrots in Mount Nibel, because Kyuvilduns had strong attacks and Twin Brains paralyzed you.

No bosses annoyed me really, I can just remember getting frequently pissed off by running into a certain rendom battle while in Midgar.

It was against a house. IDK why, but that bloody house sticks in my mind as the most soul crushing monster to ever encounter.

The Hell House is ridiculously powerful during the time you encounter it. I hated it but it was great for level building.

Eligor_FF7.jpg

Eligor's were dicks because they were ridiculously hard to steal from.

SOLDIER_3RD_FF7.jpg

SOLDIER 3rd Classes were not only uber strong at the time, but were hard to steal from. They carried a Hard Edge which was a pretty good weapon at the time of the game.

Bandit_FF7.jpg

They'd steal your shit and then next turn would run from battle, making it impossible to get it back. If they stole something rare, you're just shit out of luck.

Unknown_2_FF7.jpg

All the Unknowns in the Sunken Glenika were annoying and ridiculously powerful, but the Unknown 2 was the worst due to its ability to Confuse your entire team and make them kill each other. Unknown 1 was bad too because it could kill you instantly with Blaster.

Those are the ones I can think of now.

I never really saw any problem with the Hell House >>;

Ying Yang's can go suck a fuck though.

Whatever those things were that had half their body a fucking blade and they swung around giving you rubbish status effects? Fuck those.

Yin and Yang, yeah, I hate those.

I also hate Morbols in every fucking FF game. They make everyone go apeshit with their bad breath and then the entire party proceeds to commit suicide.

Oh, ok, I guess I'm on the bandwagon, then. xD

Also, the cacti things. In all the games.

Malboro's are terrible. I hated those Leaf pile things too.

I had a habit of always equipping somebody with a Ribbon when I could though.

The Unknowns in the Gelnika were a pain, especially if you weren't expecting it and were slightly below-level. But boy, once I got to a good level, I would Morph those jerks into Sources. ;)

Not an enemy but it was SO annoying to leave the Gelnika to have Emerald right up your ass. :O

My first thought when I saw this thread was going to be Dorky Faces, but Yin and Yang was an excellent answer. They just take SO DAMN LONG to kill, I usually end up running after fighting for awhile because I'm just bored.

"Yang's getting excited"

Shut up! :rage:

Or even better, you tell someone to cast Frog on one of your frogged party members. Before they cast it though, the Frog Song turns them back to normal, and then you turn them into a frog again, GAH!

I will never forget the first time I met an Eligor. As a young boy who had not yet realised the necessity of saving, I was arsing about the Corel desert in the Buggy having just been freed from the Gold Saucer. Running into one of these guys, I thought nothing of it. A cheeky slash here, a Fire2 there...

BANG!!!!! Killed by Aqualung. Hello broken Midgar film reel...

Eligor's are only fought in the Train Graveyard tho >_> and they certainly don't have Aqualung.

They're not really hard as much as they are tedious, and you can steal Carob Nuts from them, but any random encounter monster with 33,333 that only gives you 510 XP, 40 AP, and 460 Gil is ridiculous. I've heard about some people having difficulties finding them, but I ran into them all over Bone Village. (The Trickplays in the same area have 1500 HP)

That being said, I think they are by far one of the most awesome LOOKING monsters in FFVII. (my favorite next to the Midgar Zolom)

Sephiroth.

First he makes me fight his mum, then I have to split up into 1~3 groups with possibly not enough materia for everyone to fight a boss with multiple sections that heals itself, and then when it's over I have to fight him again. And then again.

I'm totally serious, it annoyed me. I just wanted to see the ending.

Stilva. Replaying through Disc 2 in Gaea's Cliff, nothing worse than being trounced by Magic Breath and decimating the entire party. Seriously gave me a reason to top everyone up to full health inbetween every random encounter.

If you're immune to one element though, doesn't that let you absorb Magic Breath? I just gave everyone one type of elemental ring to be safe and each time, Magic Breath would be a free Cure All :monster:
