Avatar: The Last Airbender & Korra (SPOILERS)

I have to say that some of the decisions and changes that are surfacing now do immediately seem baffling, but I will hold off judgement until I see if the execution is better in practice. Removing Sokka's sexism is a massive part of his personal character arc and development just wiped away. However, in practice, he could still have a similar (though not better than the original of course) 'journey' if they focused on his arrogance.

But the bigger issue of this, for me personally, is how it plays into the Water Tribe. If (not sure yet if this has been confirmed in any interviews) they have removed the hierarchical nature of the tribe, then that affects Sokka, Katara and a huge chunk of story across multiple seasons, which makes the reasoning for removing Sokka's sexism in the first place really the worst possible choice.

But we'll see.

Maybe they should remove all the killing and violence next, together with the opressive Fire nation, you know, because is bad :wacky:

Rumors of future Avatar series just came out, along with various leaks that were basically confirmed when they were copyright striked.

Summary:
The Avatar
  • The new Avatar is female.
  • She's an amputee, missing her left leg.
  • Has an identical twin sister.
  • She will first be seen as homeless.
  • Her animal guide is a large feline-type creature.
Setting & Story
  • Set sometime in the future.
  • According to the storyboards, looks like "Hoverboards" exist.
  • The Four Nations no longer exist
  • An unknown cataclysm occurred that Avatar Korra was forced to stop.
  • In the process Korra was force to reshape the whole world from the original four nations to seven new location/countries or "havens" ("7 Havens" is a potential subtitle for the series).
  • The White Lotus is expected to have taken one of the twins and raised her in wealth, as she is seen as the more powerful of the two.
  • It's unknown if they are separated at birth or as toddlers, but the second twin somehow ends up cast aside and forgotten.
  • She grows up on the streets of one the new "havens" along with her animal guide.
  • The two twins are reunited and begin training together, as the non-Avatar twin is still very powerful and has actual training from The White Lotus
