You know what really gets my goat about this fandom, the fact that it seems next to impossible to have a mature reasonable debate about the LTD without bashing of either girl entering the picture.

The things I've been subjected to regarding Tifa and Aeris.

Especially Tifa, that girl seems to get more bashed than Aeris for some reason, hmm maybe it's the fact that Cleriths are jealous that Cloti is the confirmed canon pairing now, eh who knows.

So discuss....what are your favorite bashings of the girls?? What's the funniest/most absurd bashing comment you've heard about them?? Who do you think gets bashed/hated on more in the LTD Tifa or Aeris.

Lol actually I spell her name "Aeris" because it's the version I grew up with, (not like all you young whippersnappers raised on Kingdom Hearts and the Compilation ) It's easy to pronounce, and actually in katakana Aerith's name would be pronounced as Aerisu which is translated as Aeris.

I don't know if it's still the case but at the CxA forums which main purpose is to discuss LT-related stuff, there's a thread devoted entirely to bashing Tifa. And most other comments about Tifa at that forum were pretty much bashing her, too.

Why though, WHY??!! Again I ask are they just jealous that Cloti is canon while their pairing isn't. I don't see what Tifa has done in the game to warrant this type of bashing, she's a genuinely nice and good-hearted person.

But to answer the question, I've seen Tifa bashing for over a decade, hurr durr- she's a slut/she's a liar/she's a nagger/she's not a real character. It makes it worse that Tifa is, to some extent, a fanservice character, so everytime you get into a discussion about her- people resort to the "she's only here/she only has fans because she has big boobs." and they won't consider her otherwise.

Aerith's got bashers too, although most of it seems reactionary.

As for 'Tifa is a fanservice character' I think the same is true, if not moreso, of Aerith. Sure, Tifa is more obviously cheesecake, but Aerith has a legion of fans who will buy anything just because she's barely in it.

I mean, I can explain her inclusion as an assist only DLC in Dissidia only as a fanservice move. Tifa at least has plot and a moveset.

Eh to be honest even though I do personally like Aeris(th) as a character better than Tifa, I still think Tifa doesn't deserve this ragging on her boobs. I mean seriously being a woman, there are actually girls that have boobs that big so it's not unnatural. Plus I get the feeling fans just use the boobs thing as an excuse that they really don't like the fact that Tifa gets the guy in the end when Aeris bites the bucket.

For as many young folks are hanging around, I would guess there are just as many old folks. Some of us manage to change with the times though.

I think the boob comments started out as a joke (and still run as one for those of us that can handle it), but the whole thing turned into name-calling (for both Tifa and her fans) for the purpose of bashing.

Aerith may be sweet and magical, but she's hardly angelic (even though AC sort of gave her that feel). And I wouldn't classify her as a Mary Sue. She's quite spunky, and can be pushy when she wants to be. She also questions a lot of herself. Maybe she was a bit more "Mary Sue-like" in CC. Certainly not in FFVII.

I think the fans who describe Aerith in a way that would make her a Mary Sue are the ones missing the point and ruining her character.

She's meant to appear that way at first. Then it hits you that this isn't your normal heroine. Cue she's got a lot of her own story that gets slowly revealed, everything isn't how it seems, and ya, she's the one who dies without even a goodbye.

Character design wise, she's obviously meant to pander to a certain type of fans. But people often mix up that with her fans that like her persona in general. So you get a lot of people who are like, "they only want her in so that they can a character with big boobs" and completely ignore her as a well established fighter with a big following in general.

Which means they added fanservice- cheesecake, specifically- TO Tifa in Dissidia rather than being there purely FOR Fanservice.
