Yeah, it's basically a retelling of the story except for some minor changes. The game however has alot of mysteries about whats actually going on and who people are, while the anime flat out tells you 95% of them in the first 20 min.
It didnt have the fun the game had. Maybe it's the lack of animation compared to the games cutscenes, and the lack of the awesome english voice actress, but Bayonetta seemed more slutty and less playful. She gets into a full on dance-off in the game, and I cant see the anime version of her bothering to play along.
Not sure why this was made honestly. Other than seeing Bayonetta herself as an anime character, and getting some mild awareness for Bayonetta 2. It's too crib notes in terms of story for people who've played the game, and it ruins the story for those who haven't.
I didn't find the fight scenes that interesting either. She does a move, shot of an angel loosing a limb/head and blowing up, or she just flat out kills them with one attack.
At least they used some of the music from the game.
