Best RPGs for the PS3

^You absolutely need to play it. I think this'll be a Gravity Rush situation, honestly it's just a fantastic game. Talking about it in this thread makes me want to go play it right now.

I'm actually up for streaming it at some point so you can all tell me how bad my tactics are :monster:

I was only thinking about JRPGs, it occurs to me that there have been some stunningly good WRPG out this generation and shockingly on the PS3. Fallout New Vegas being the best of the WRPG of this generation, in my opinion. Dragon Age Origin was also amazing (shame about the sequel). Mass Effect was a good series, but I personally liked it better the first time I played it, when it was called Knights of the old Republic. Plus there are some good hybrids, like Dues Ex, or even Brutal Legend.

Skyrim, Oblivion, and Fallout 3 are all honorable mentions.

Some people call Bioshock an RPG, honestly don't understand why. It is just an FPS with style.

I like Skyrim just because your character can move around naturally/fluidly compared to the previous entries. If ESO is smart, it will take that engine and shove all the good stuff from the previous Elder Scrolls into it to make a super Elder Scrolls.

But yeah, I am starting to lean more into RPGs that let me be my own character now.

I would wholeheartedly recommend Dark Souls for a classic dungeon exploration experience. The difficulty is something fierce and admittedly the game is pretty slow starting off, but once you get past the first few areas it becomes very engrossing. There's a real sense of reward every time you take down a boss or difficult enemy. And the atmosphere of the game just rocks if you're into knights and dragons and broken battlements and treacherous ruins and all that jazz, some great music too despite a minimalistic soundtrack

This is a bad quasi-necro post I'm making, but this bit is chewing away at me because of how wrong it is. :monster:

The only thing the two games have remotely in common is that they both form the beginning of a sci-fi opera series developed by the same core Bioware team (and thus share some similar character tropes).
Mechanically and stylistically they couldn't be any more different.
