You know, even though I came into this fandom through the Compilation (ACC-Crisis Core - FFVII) I can completely see why so many fans who started with the OG dislike the Compilation. Maybe SE thinks the franchise runs itself and so they leave it to the second-raters in the company, or maybe they secretly hate the OG for being their glory day and for being in the past.

He might have used Inspire on the Reeve doll, and left Cait Sith inside in case fake Reeve would be destroyed (which it was).

I don't remember if Cait Sith claims driving fake Reeve. Even if Cait Sith claims controlling the doll, the words could just as well be from Reeve's mouth.

It still urks me though how much Reeve's power lacks a clear definition and set limitations. Sure, he can bring inanimate objects to life. But how separate can this other consciousness act aside form him? Can it rebel against him? Can it become depressed over not having a will of its own?
What type of ligaments does a doll need to have in order for Reeve to move it around? What gives energy to these ligaments or hold them together? When you think about it, it becomes almost like Reeve possesses some form of long-distance telekinetic abilities. =/

And all of this because Cait Sith isn't just a robot with AI... -__-

I don't have a problem with suspension of disbelief. Cloud's hair alone defies belief. What I have a problem with is suspension of intelligence.

Or maybe it was Chaos, and the next entry of the Compilation will feature Vincent as a dirty, dirty bum, and he's addicted to ethers because he feels guilty over Shalua's death because everyone knows you can't have a game starring Vincent Valentine without ridiculous quantities of angst.

The gameplay will involve you spamming triangle in order to restrain Vincent in his throes of withdrawal/angst/SHALUUAAAAAAAAA.

And there will be lots of gorgeous cutscenes, obvs.

Given how non-sensical this game universe appears at closer inspection I think it confirms just how much of a work of "gaming" FFVII is rather than a work of "fiction".

Had FFVII been a book series, the narration would have provided us much greater detail such as how Vincent's metabolism works (so to allow him to sleep for 30 years). Did he eat occassionally? How often did he wake up in those 30 years, if at all (aside from the event in BC)? How filthy was he when Cloud & Co woke him up? Did he stink? All characters, all the locations would be provided much greater detail (and logic) were this a series of books.

But what we have is a game; never intended to reach the level of detail that say, Tolkien's Middle Earth does. That is not to say that there are immensely stupid books, just saying that there's a reason FFVII doesn't always make sense. It is, when it all comes down to it, a game.

I'm honestly okay with a bit of ambiguity in games, or even in books - it leads to some very interesting and enjoyable debates/theories.

But if you're gonna leave it ambiguous, don't go introducing things - like Inspire - after the fact. It just makes it feel tacky and added on and downright stupid. Just like retconning does.

When the Ultimania Omega mentions, it is mentioned in Cait Sith's and Reeve's actual profiles and not just the early drafts.

I'd like to think, in an optimistic way, that this kind of stuff was what they'd thought of back when making the game (considering that they then went and changed things about Vincent and Aerith's pasts given in the book with DC and CC).

But then they just do absolute nothing with it in the actual games so it might as well not even exist.
