This is the first I've heard of him, but I googled his work and it's awesome. I likes it a lot. 106 is a good innings, and it's great that he made some beautiful art.

Dayum, that's old. Or, Fischer died young. I find it really hard to imagine I'd still be alive for 40 years after my retirement.

...fuck I need to start making Plans for that, :monster:

My god. 106...I don't think I'd want to live that long. 80, I can cope with the age of dying. But I'm surprised one of the 1940's people who did Disney was still alive up until now. I honestly didn't think anyone from the time of Bambi's movie release would still be alive in the 21st Century.

I do recall that producer and voice actor Wayne Allwine who voiced Mickey Mouse since "Mickey's Christmas Carol" in the late 80's died of cancer back in 2009 and the poor guy was only in his 60's too when that happened. I still miss him.:'(

I wonder what his secret was to a long life. The fact he was Asian American and inspired one of the most iconic works of Disney is really something to be proud of. I mean back then you realize how hard things were for minorities to be recognized for their work.

Maybe he was having a finger full of wine or scotch up until this point? My grandfather lives on that and he's still walking around at the age that he is, having had his 93rd birthday last weekend.

Asian American? That's really cool, and hey, movies like that back then were all done by hand, paper and paint and took up years to create, not like these days where the computer does most of the work.

*Laughs* That's a good one! One of the best ways to say goodbye to 2016. Should've done that for 2015 too.

Wow.

Wow.

=/

I recently watched the 2 original seasons of Twin Peaks (have been meaning to watch the prequel as well). It's a real shame he passed away his character Albert in Twin Peaks is incredible. He wasn't in many episodes or even scenes but when he was it was a real treat. I really hope they filmed his scenes for the new upcoming season already.

RIP. :(

Think I'm going to have to rewatch Twin Peaks. Just hearing the intro start to chime during his speech was to good.

There's a double dose of sad news for all you baseball fans.

Kansas City Royals pitcher and 2015 World Series champion Yordano Ventura at age 25.

Former major leaguer Andy Marte, who last played in the majors for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2014, at age 33.

Both died on the same day, in the same country (the Dominican Republic), and in separate car accidents.

As someone who has been on the roads in the DR many, many times, this does not shock me. It's horrible, don't get me wrong, but maybe these higher profile deaths will actually have an influence on their traffic woes? Maybe?

Probably not.

Fuck, I liked John Hurt. 2017 can't you just take the no-talent fuckwits instead? We have plenty of those.

One of the biggest factors in the Dominican Republic's traffic fatality rate is lax seatbelt and DUI laws. And to my knowledge, these are the second and third Major Leaguers to die in traffic accidents in the Dominican Republic in as many years. On the day of Game 5 of the 2014 World Series, Oscar Taveras, then of the St. Louis Cardinals, died under the same circumstances in the same country. The starting pitcher for the Royals the next game? Yordano Ventura. It should also be noted that the Dominican Republic is the home country of some of the best Major League players over the course of the last 2 decades, many of them being stars (such as Hall of Famer Pedro Martinez and the recently retired David Ortiz). If the traffic fatalities of Major Leaguers such as Taveras and Ventura who could have potentially become stars of that same caliber in the future does not catalyze serious reform on seatbelt and DUI laws in that country, up to and including enforcement of such laws, I don't know what will.

Onto more additions...

Geoff Nicholls, best known as the former keyboardist of Black Sabbath, lost his battle with lung cancer at age 68.
